Etnalcantara

This trip is not just for those interested in geology: anyone who loves nature and breathtaking landscapes should join us on this special excursion. Our 4X4 vehicles allow us to visit the unspoiled natural beauty that makes Mount Etna so famous, while avoiding the crowds of tourists. Enjoy extraordinary scenery, ancient forests, black lava fields left from previous eruptions, volcanic craters, lava caves and other natural wonders accessible only to those with the right set of tires.

This was an amazing experience. Although I travelled solo, I took this excursion with two other people who were staying at the same accommodation. We were picked up by our guide, Alfio, who was very welcoming and friendly. During the whole trip he explained us so much and told us a lot about not only Mount Etna but as well Sicily’s history. I could have spent several days with him and not get bored. We went to see several places (cave, lava flow of 2002, the skistation, Mt Satorius,...) with the help of the great driving skills of our guide in the 4x4. Very professional, very friendly, just a great experience in every way! Thank you Alfio!

Cantine Tornatore

Beautiful quiet location on the hillside of Etna While it’s a relatively young vineyard, the wine from both Tornatore and Corranco is fabulous The tour is informative and professional and the tasting (accompanied with local produce) is great . Definitely recommend.

Excellent hospitality as always with Planeta. We were a group of 10 and had a tasting of exquisite wines paired with local delicacies. Elena received us and showed us the beautiful palmento and the surrounding vines, she then guided the wine tasting and made us have a wonderful time. The attention to details and the refined taste of the family is also shown by the presence of beautiful contemporary artworks. During the summer season check out the "Sciaranuova Festival - Teatro in Vigna", curated by contemporary authors directly on the spot in a natural amphitheatre in the vineyard.

We had scheduled our visit to the winery with Patrizia, and when we arrived we were taken on tour by Giulia who was very knowledgeable of the wine making process and the history of the winery. She took us to the important areas within the buildings, and explained the processes. She showed us the view outside to Mt. Etna and the surrounding vineyards. On the outside benches we had the tasting of 4 wines, accompanied by bread with meat, cheeses, olives, sundried tomatoes, etc. This cost 27 Euros each. We purchased some wine to take with us and also shipped 6 bottles to our home. The wine arrived safely after 4 weeks. This was a good tasting with very excellent wines born on the lava based soil below Mt.Etna.

Giardini Naxos is known to have been first Greek colony in Sicily.Naxos has lovely beaches ,the open air cafes, bars and restaurants crafts and art shops, an ideal place to by souvenirs or small gifts when it is time to leave the Sicily... A few kilometers from Giardini Naxos in the valley of Alcantara are the strange narrow gorges carved out by water over the centuries. It has created bizarre and amazing sculptures on the lavic basalt walls. The river waters are very cold due to the fact that they are coming from the melting snows of the volcano. It takes only about 30 minutes by bus to get there from Recanati bus stop . Unique experience, must see.

Brought there by friends, it was another unusual experience near Catania, with those geological canyons built by the water . You can walk in out the bed of the river and there is a nice fall to see.
