Camber Sands

Reviewed By Dren W

Retraced my childhood memories of the 1970s. Though today it was very windy and bitterly cold, maybe sunny. Car park was buzzing with dog walkers and horse boxes and their riders. Very sand swept tarmac and drifting sand made finding the actual footpath interesting. The beach was easy to walk along and solid underfoot. Walking up into the Dunes made me feel like a kid again. We will return in warmer weather and enjoy what this beach has to offer. Good views.

Rye Water Sports

Rye Water Sports is a long established teaching centre by Camber Sands in East Sussex giving lessons in Kitesurfing, Windsurfing, Dinghy Sailing and Stand Up Paddleboarding. Enjoy the thrill of a windsurfing or dinghy sailing lesson on our unique coastal lake on the South East Coast, where the wind always seems to blow, or learn to kitesurf on the Kent and Sussex Beaches that are amongst the best in the country. We have a range of top quality boards and sails for hire including wetsuits and harnesses. Dinghy hire is available too but has to be booked in advance. If you have your own kit that's fine, day sailors are welcome. Here at our centre, in this glorious part of Kent and Sussex , is the place to get into Water Sports.

We have sailed here many times over the past year, currently kids are taking their second lot of sailing exams. Near to the coast with straight sea winds an inland lake without the worry of sea state. Friendly people, great Sandwich bar and all kit has been available either to rent cheaply or is included in course fee. If we just want a quick sail about we usually rent a boat for an hour or two, you are given the boat rigged and ready to go, hand it back still rigged... Saves an hour or so of rigging then packing up my own boat. Storage is now available there at a reasonable cost so am considering leaving my own boat there permenantly. Other than dinghy sailing there are lots of other activities from windsurfing to canoeing. If you sail I would recommend this place for a quick spin whilst on holiday, if you do not and want to, a great place to learn.
