What to do and see in Bucharest, Romania: The Best Self-Guided Tours & Rentals

February 1, 2022 Terina Blouin

Vlad the Impaler stated his claim to Bucharest in 1459. His citadel on the Dambovita was the first of flotillas of palaces, many of which still stand. Four subway lines and a modern bus network transport visitors and commuters. Nicknamed "Little Paris", Bucharest's elegant early 20th-century architecture shows French influences. Don't miss the Village Museum, Romanian Athenaeum and the Peasant Museum. You can't miss the Palace of Parliament, the second-largest building in the world (after the Pentagon).

I was on my way to my inlaws which meant car travel. But I wanted a motorcycle to take a trip with my buddies in Bucharest and this is where rent4ride came in. The site was easy to use and I rented a r1200GS LC for 1 day. Mihai was waiting for me at 8 AM on a Saturday (sorry for my cruelty Mihai!) so I could pickup the bike. After my trip I was able to return the bike the same day and the process was easy. 1 things of note: - get a phone holder as the exact address can be difficult to find if you are not familiar with getting in and out of Bucharest. Navigating the rest of the country is a piece of cake due to all the signs everywhere but Bucharest itself is less transparent. Kind regards, Roland
