A history major like me had a wonderful time at this place, for it is here, during the 19th century, that the liberation from Spain began for what would be the nations of Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and namely, Colombia. My parents were Colombian, and I have lived in Bogota for a few years in my youth, so This battle is of significant importance when learning about the country, and its liberator, Simon Bolivar. The battlefield covers a wide expanse of hill country with statues and monuments, but there is a building near the bridge called "El Ciclorama," a round structure which has the largest mural in South America, and when explained by the local guide, adds color to the rich history of the event held here and, most importantly, the people of Colombia. A great place to visit.

This house where the museum is located was renovated very well, so besides the museum you get to see how were the houses 450 yrs ago in this beautiful town of the Andes

First walk into this square is impressive. Huge. Statue of Bolivar in the middle, 3 sides of colonial beauty, hundreds of pigeons, people wandering everywhere. Very picturesque with the hills in 5e background and the every changing weather.

The old church is one of the main features of the cobblestone square. The interior is gold decor and well worth a visit!
