Horseshoe Bay Rotary Lookout

Reviewed By hughes57 - Bowen, Australia

Only takes 10 to 15 mins from the beautiful Horseshoe Bay. Not that easy for older folk but can be done slowly. Kids will love it and if your keen try continuing on to the " Radar Site " which is longer a little harder but gives 360 views.
I have been doing this walk for over 50 years and can't recommend enough.

Summergarden Theatre

Reviewed By lau_5567 - Rockhampton, Australia

Quaint little twin cinema in Bowen hosts one large cinema and a much smaller cinema.
Love the blockbuster posters lining the halls with big star autographs.
Tickets are good prices ($12 for adult, $9 for child, kids free under 3 y.o)
Popcorn, snacks & drinks available. Only takes cash but there is an ATM onsite if you need. Very Limited Seating available in the foyer and becomes really crowded before a viewing and the ticket line and food waiting lines become confusing.
Parking is good outside, bring a coat the air con can get quite cool inside!

Grays Bay

This stretch of black close to the road to the larger Horsehoe Bay is an ideal Bay for little children. It is sheltered by rocks and so the valves are more gentle here. The slope of beach is more gradual into the sea, so is much more desirable for families with small children.

The Big Mango is now on the Esplanade at Bowen. It makes for a great selfie for facebook, and to read the story behind the publicity stunt that put it on the map - very clever!

Mother Beddock Rock

My favourite part of this track was Murray Bay. Then the trail led uphill to the Mother Beddock, ageless landmark. This rock has its own tale (ask locals!) and the view from here was nothing less than gorgeous. Loved the track - only 2,5 km. Doable for anyone.

Queens Beach

Queens Beach boasts a long white sandy beach, offering visitors and locals a 5km stroll with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Facing North - North East, Queens Beach is protected from Bowen's South Easterly breeze, resulting in many glassy days, perfect for spotting whales during winter. Queens Beach is also a great spot to fish and relax by the water's edge.

Was great to revisit my favourite beach in Bowen and it must be the longest in the area by far. Good fishing can be had from the beach and you can also launch your boat from the boat ramp.
