We both love Asian food and in particular Chinese and Cantonese. Widely travelled we found the dishes we ordered Chicken Chow Mein and Chicken with Seasonal Vegitables. Both tasteless no flavour, indescribable shaped chicken pieces and soggy noodles. Very disappointing. We did get a discount but would have preferred a lovely meal as the prices are okay.

Very disappointed with the service. I was made feel like I was an inconvenience due to being Coelica even tho we rang prior to confirm they catered for the same. My husband enquired what sauces were gluten free we were told that it makes things hard that I have a dietary requirement. The young girl taking our order rolled her eyes as she went into the kitchen and when she came back out she could not even have the decency to look at me when she informed me that no it wasn't. Due to very poor and rude service it will be extremely unlikely i will come here again for a meal. I must say I have never been asked for the highchair I pre-booked to b given to someone else. Food was ok for its money. However female staff at this establishment need a lesson in good manners and good service.

We stopped here while travelling through Northern Queensland - took awhile to decide on what to eat as the options are endless. Was not disappointed, husband had the pepper steak pie floater with peas & mash - could not stop raving about it. Great coffee & attentive staff. Will be coming back, just wished they delivered to Melbourne!!

North Queensland Cruising Yacht Club

Reviewed By Barbara B - Gympie, Australia

The yacht club advertises "come sail with us" on their website, as do a lot of sailing clubs. You usually turn up on a Wednesday or Saturday afternoon for a bit of fun with friendly races. As the Superboats were on the weekend we enquired, we were told to come about 2pm and see what was happening. We did this, and an hour later was told by a skipper that he was full up, but to ring on Wednesday about 4pm and gave us the impression that we would be able to join him. We rang at 2pm to make sure he was sailing, and were told by the staff that he had told them if we phoned to tell us that there was no room. We realise that at times "outsiders" will have to take their chances, but as we had spoken to him and he knew we had missed out on Satruday and keen to go, we thought that we would have been made to feel more welcome. Don't bank on going sailing with them.

First time in Bowen and we recommended the Hotel for good quality food. We were not disappointed. Steak was cooked to perfection. I had the seafood topper on my steak and it was super delicious The staff were really friendly and we found the Manager Debbie more than helpful. She is a great ambassador for the town as well as your Hotel. Some aspects of the decor are a little tired it did not distract us from our enjoyable evening.

This is a great-looking, period hotel. Inside it's fairly standard and modern but there's a delightful outdoor area that you should head for. Good wine by the glass and an adventurous (if a little expensive) pub menu.
There's historical signage around the place too. Well worth a visit.

Plenty of choices for (on tap) beer, wine and spirits, you can even have a drink at "Bull..t" corner - very Australian.
Our party of six were very happy with the table service and meals, a combination of steaks & seafood which were delivered at the same time.
We only drank Beer so can't comment (as others have) about the wine, though generally we'll buy by the bottle anyway.

It was the perfect place for a light lunch by the beach. Food is very tasty and reasonably priced. Seating is shady and cool, overlooking the beach of the resort. Staff are friendly. One disappointment: my mango smoothie though, had been watered down and didn‘t contain enough fruit. If you can‘t make a margin on a full bodied smoothie at 6AUD, price it a little higher, or reduce the volume and serve water on the side for the guest to decide if they want to dilute it. Only 4 out of 5 for stinginess.
