What to do and see in Bodrum City, Turkish Aegean Coast: The Best Beaches

February 20, 2022 Myesha Cogley

Once a cozy fishing village of only a few thousand people, Bodrum has experienced a renaissance in the last half century that has transformed this once-sleepy community into one of Turkey's most popular vacation hotspots. Writers, intellectuals, artists and musicians have long called this Aegean town home, or second-home, attracting a vibrant cultural scene paralleled only by the town's nightlife. Windswept beaches and glittering waters provide the backdrop to the perfect beach getaway.

Bitez Beach

Bitez beach is probably the best beach in the Bodrum peninsula if you have kids. Large section of the beach is very shallow and warm water, with lots of kids activities.

Xuma Beach Club

We were a little apprehensive after reading some of the other reviews, don’t let these put you off, it’s an amazing day out! This place is such a lovely spot and well worth the 35 minute drive from Torba. We came on a Wednesday, entry is 150 TL each (same price across all days) and includes sunlounger and towels. After being shown to our area (very comfortable sunlounger), we were given the drinks/food menu. Prices are very reasonable in comparison to other beach clubs (bottle of Grigio Blush for 300TL, Vinkara rose prosecco 450TL) for and what we were expecting, and the menu was also extensive. You can of course order drinks off menu as well. I must point out here that the service was exceptional, shout out especially to Hassan for taking care of us all day! Back to the food, the Vietnamese beef salad, octopus, shrimp taco and truffle fries were delicious, mains on average around 120TL, very well priced. There is also a restaurant but we didn’t go there. The beach itself has very clear water and warm, the best of the beach clubs that I have been to in this area. There’s a DJ who comes on at 5pm playing some funky beats. This is also a wellness centre so you can also enjoy yoga classes and have a massage too. The facilities are really good, big bathrooms and many shower facilities. I can’t fault this place at all, all I can say is don’t listen to these other negative reviews and give this place a shot, you will have an amazing day like we had!
