Roughtor

Once we'd managed to find the car park, we had a brilliant walk exploring the peaks of Roughtor. The terrain is challenging but not horrendous, and the surrounding wildlife is lovely. Brilliant views at the top and a nice chat with the wild ponies on the way down! Well worth it.

Lanhydrock and Respryn Circular Walk

A circular walk through the mature broadleaf woodland in the less well-known areas of the Lanhydrock estate, through bluebell woods and along the River Fowey, past the mediaeval bridge at Respryn, built after numerous prayers for safe passage in the ford-side chapel, had not resulted in the desired outcome. 3.8 miles. Steepness: easy-moderate.

Reviewed By TheMuscovyDuck

A quiet circular walk through the woods that is on a mixture of trails and paved paths. There are plenty of options to lengthen the walk if you wish with a network of paths throughout the woods. Even though we did the walk on August Bank Holiday it was not at all crowded and we were on our own most the time.

Pencarrow House and Gardens

Reviewed By Coalchucker - Winchester, United Kingdom

Pencarrow is a beautiful house and well worth visiting. It's still a family home and it has a quirky and personal feel which sets it apart from other country houses. Lady Molesworth St Aubyn and her late husband took it on in the 1970s after it had not been lived in for some time and they have done a fantastic job. We enjoyed the new bookshop and a light lunch which was tasty and well presented, followed by a tour of the house. Our guide Karen was good-humoured and very knowledgeable making the tour most enjoyable. A walk around the gardens then followed with plenty to see. Our visit was made extra special by a delightful and informal chat with Lady M. herself and it was no surprise to find that she was every bit as friendly and welcoming as her lovely house. She deserves your support in continuing to look after this special place for us all to enjoy.

Stannon Moor prehistoric relics circular walk

A circular walk around Stannon Moor near St Breward with panoramic views of Bodmin Moor, passing stone circles, burial chambers and other prehistoric monuments to a massive granite boulder balanced on Louden Hill which gently rocks if you sit on it. 3.9 miles. Steepness: easy-moderate.

Reviewed By 291sheilat - Bodmin, United Kingdom

This easy to moderate 3.9 mile walk takes you past some very ancient parts of Bodmin Moor including stone circles, a buriel chamber and remains of settlements as well as the rocking Logan rock. (give it a try), delightful on a sunny day, I very nearly stepped on a skylarks nest just missing it by inches.

Had to visit here, always been fascinated with anything to do with the legend of Excalibur and King Arthur. Well we didn’t see a sword or any Knights or a round table. What we found was a fairly small pretty lake. But we enjoyed our trek to find bygone landmarks.

Followed this route on Viewranger and is well worth doing. Great views, not too taxing and easy to navigate. Can be a bit boggy in places so wear decent walking shoes.
