What to do and see in Birmingham, England: The Best Classes & Workshops

October 5, 2021 Marissa Gamble

The geographical heart of England, Birmingham started life as a sixth- century Anglo-Saxon village. Today, much of this city of over a million dates back to post-WWII redevelopment in the 1950s and 60s. Cutting edge museums and galleries, innovative theaters and excellent shopping have contributed to Birmingham's appeal as a weekend break destination. Don't miss the hopping bars and cafes of Gas Street Basin or the fascinating creatures at the National Sea Life Centre.

Had a great Saturday with Rob at Birmingham Wine School at the HDV in Stratford. 13 wines starting with Champagne at 11am through 6 whites and 6 reds with a finish at 4pm. It doesn't matter about your level of knowledge of wine, this is great for anyone who just loves wine. You will learn alot, laugh alot and drink alot. I would suggest staying over at the hotel, which we did, as you dont want to drive after this day. There is an option of spittoon which none of us used except Rob Rob - knowledgeable and fun and would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks for a great day

Creative Coffee Hub

Situated on the main road it is easy to miss this lovely independent coffee shop. Came here just before it was due to close to get an espresso for my husband who had been admitted to St Mary’s Hospice. I wished I had time to sit and enjoy a drink as it looked so homely. I picked up a leaflet and learnt that it runs children’s party’s, and lots of other activities including craft workshops, mindfulness, Spanish and more. The next opportunity we collected some take away drinks and delicious homemade cakes including flapjack lemon curd and chocolate shortcake. The lady who was working at the time was welcoming and kind. I’m looking forward to visiting again and spending a little longer to enjoy the lovely coffee and more homemade treats.
