The Belfast Empire

We were supposed to be seeing a band in the larger concert hall upstairs but the gig was cancelled. We still went to Belfast anyway and went to The Empire just to see what it was like. Glad we did. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and brilliant live music. It's in the University area of the city near to Botanic train station. We went on a Sunday night, not really expecting much to be on because people are back in work on the Monday. They must go in later in Belfast. The place was bouncing. A good selection of beers and they had lots of large screens dotted around the place. They show all the live sports. By the end of the night people were up dancing all over the place. Just a really friendly pub/venue with a great feeling about it.

Maddens Bar on edge of City Centre as you head towards the wonderful west Belfast is full of rustic charm and Belfast craic, humour and welcome. One of the finest selection of whiskeys in the city of which many of the new bars offer big Maddens collection had a genuine feel to it with real dust on the top shelf stuff! I had a few beers here recently on a Friday afternoon. Staff were 1st class and there was a real nice feel to the place. If you’re after a stand out Belfast Bar this is the 1!
