Fun trip. The transportation was a little screwed up-- we spent forty five minutes waiting at a collection point for vans to arrive with guests from other resorts to join the main bus to Bayahibe. The boat was run down, and the Bayahibe Beach launching point is full of scamsters trying to sell you cheap souvenirs. We got water and basic sandwiches as snacks. Long boat ride, with a detour up the Chavon River that was completely pointless. Stopped for a half hour of snorkeling off the back of the boat. Okay, mostly fish trained to come around as they threw white bread overboard. On to the island. Decent beach, but extremely rocky/coral and not great swimming.

Just be careful. Booked a boat charter. Gave deposit $100. You can’t make this up. Go to lobby asking for where to get picked up. Looks at my ticket and asks me for the other $200 due. Taxi drive then asks me for the $200. Get to marina. Another guy asks me for the $200. There was no boat! Great learning experience. Lost the $100. But my 17 year old learned a great lesson.

We met the Cdn gringo on the beach and took his party boat with slide to snorkel and party! It was so fun! I wanted to do it again! We met new people and just drank and danced! My favorite was swimming with the floating bar in the ocean where the two seas meet.

Saona Island is a "must do" day trip if you are visiting the Dominican. It's a whole day adventure of speed boat / catamaran.... This island is breathtaking with the crystal clear waters and white sand. The natural pond doesn't have the star fish that they used, and very few there. We did find one, but are not allowed to take the fish above the water. Still an amazing experience!
