Baotou (Mongolian: ᠪᠤᠭᠤᠲᠤ ᠬᠣᠲᠠ Buɣutu qota, Бугат хот; Chinese: 包头市; pinyin: bāotóu) also known as Bugat hot is the largest industrial city in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of northern China. Governed as a prefecture-level city, its built-up (or metro) area made up of 5 urban districts is home to 2,070,801 inhabitants with a total population of over 2.65 million accounting for counties under its jurisdiction. The city's Mongolian name means "place with deer", and an alternate name is "Lucheng" (鹿城; Lùchéng), meaning "Deer City".

we were here on a rainy day. not much english info had been provided at the info and ticket counter. communication was difficult. we had been told that we had to walk on and off in the rain to get to the actual mausoleum and the museum. we decided to wait and kill the time by driving around the area to see the sculptures and beautiful landscape. the mausoleum is surrounded by the scenic prairie and ethnic mongolian reserve where there are tourist activities like horse riding and visiting locals who lived in the yurt. of course, we could only look through the rain. after a few hours, the rain didn't seem to stop. we decided to return to the hotel. what a pity.

70 kilometers (approx. 43 miles) northeast of Baotou, near a valley named Wudang Gou, lies the Wudangzhao Monastery which is a large Tibetan Buddhist monastery. It is the biggest and the best preserved lamastery in Inner Mongolia's Autonomous Region. 'Bada Gele Monastery' is its Tibetan name, meaning white lotus. 'Wudangzhao' in Mongolian means 'willow'. Willows are prosperous in the valley, thus the name.
The monastery was built in the Tibetan style. It is a group of white architectures built on the hills according to the principles of physiognomy. The white monastery stands out against the background of the green trees, making it appear very majestic.
The main buildings in the monastery are composed of six halls, three living Buddha residences, and a funeral hall where the relics of several living Buddhas are preserved.
The six halls are Suguqin Hall, Dongkuo'er Hall, Queyiri Hall, Dangge Xide Hall, Ahui Hall and Ribenlun Hall. The Suguqin Hall is the uppermost one where all the lamas in the monastery gather to recite the lections. The floor is covered with red carpet, and the walls are covered with the colorful paintings depicting Buddhist stories. Queyiri Hall is situated to the west of Suguqin Hall. The Laughing Buddha is worshipped here. The hall is in fact a department where the Buddhist sutra and the religious philosophy are studied. Dangge Xide Hall is also named Jingang Hall, for several Jingang Buddha statues are worshipped there. Dangqi Xide Hall is the smallest hall in the monastery. In it are several Buddhist statues, among which the most notable one is a Buddha, named Daweide, who has nine heads, 34 arms and 16 feet.
According to statistics, there are some 1,500 Buddhist statues and abundant fine murals which reflect the historical characters, customs, myths and beautiful landscape. All the collections in the monastery are precious materials for studying the history and culture of minorities.

Great shopping mall with many stores to explore from Zara to many Chinese brands of all price ranges. You will not find luxury stores here. At times, there are events and shows at the centre of the mall. Overall, it is very well structured and it's difficult to get lost there.
Outside of the shopping centre is a large square / park. On another entrance, you will find small stores such as a milk tea shop and Mr. Cake. There are also plenty of street vendors.
My recommendations:
- Try the KTV. There is a very large KTV on the 2nd Floor with a shop and many different sized rooms.
- Watch a movie at the IMAX (we did see the Monkey King and loved it, the movie had English subtitles)
- The 3rd Floor is where all the food is :D We have been back for three years now and always find new restaurants that opened throughout the year. So far, we loved each one! You can find anything from Szechuan noodles, BBQ, Korean, Hot Pot, etc.
- Visit the Starbucks and pick up a Baotou coffee mug :)

We were enroute to ordos, the pretty temple is set amidst lush grounds and foiled by a stunning mountain range. A guide is absolutely essential to bring the buildings, sculptures and tapestries alive. The temple is dedicated to the beloved mistress of the khan...a Mongolian Taj Mahal of sorts.

This makes for a convenient and worthwhile - but hardly breathtaking - break on the road from Baotou to Wudangzhao Monastery. The mud-brick wall is scarcely recognisable now, rising no more than perhaps 6 feet above the surrounding terrain. It is nevertheless an impressive achievement - but there is little to see today. The road that cuts through it is busy with trucks, so there is no real sense of solitude here.
The statue is impressive!

The start of April is not a good time for Nanhai Park. They will charge you full admittance fee, but nothing is open. Aside from hiring electric golf carts, no other businesses seemed to be open. It's a nice place for a stroll - but it's a long way from town, and a bit pricey. If you plan to go, make sure it is in season!

規模の割りに拍子抜けだとは言うが、展示方法は及第点にあり、文物を落ち着いて見られる場所です。歴史に興味のある方は足を運ばれても損はないと思います。ちなみに入場無料です。

We went here in August 2015, it was a cool place to visit and even our 5-year olds enjoyed it (no mean feat!). Enjoyed the grounds very much too

Aerding Square is a "must see" and a Great Beginning to see in this northern city. Many everyday people of all ages will visit this open square during the day and a wonderful place to see average Chinese people doing average everyday things like exercising; kite-flying; a few enoying their lunch time break; maybe a spontaneous dama-dance group; and plenty of room to walk around and enjoy yourself - - maybe ust to read a book. There are also a few monuments and display items in the square for the curious. From this central city location to can easily go to many other locations for shopping or entertainment.
