Seen this waterfall several times and it always amazes me the power of the water, it is an incredible site especially after a heavy snow fall. Nearby Bad Gastein centre is a little derelict but after the sale of 3 of the main buildings hopefully we will soon new life there very soon.

Good to walk across the full length of the bridge before skiing back to Bad Gastein. Great views of Mountains in the area and a birds eye view of the red runs below that lead to Angertal.

Well, that is why I dislike skiing in Austria, almost every time bad weather, overpriced skipasses and, compared to Italy or France, very, very dangerous pistas, I mean, no safety nets around them, even the curve surounded with big trees, shame, for that portion of money? But advanced skiers are on good place, very good cuisine at the restaurants.

It is located on the left hand side of the waterfall as you head up the valley. The altarpiece is unusual. Worth visiting as part of a stroll through both sides of the town.

I have no particular attachment to Kaiser Wilhelm. but the walk past his memorial along the West side of Bad Gastein from the centre of town to the Gruner Baum Hotel in the middle of Winter is magical.

Die Gasteiner Alpenstrasse

We left Bad Gastein for Sport Gastein on a poor weather day. The valley was damp but we enjoyed walking along the roadways. The road routes were limited by barriers across the roads which seemed to be connected to electric fences! There were footpaths around the valley but these were harder to follow. Waterfalls all around the valley were beautiful. Plenty of wild flowers and farm animals to see. Cafe Valerie was lovely for lunch.

When in Bad Gastein, I strongly recommend a visit to this museum to support other local attractions than the usual spas and ski-related ones. The museum is located in the historic Grand Hotel Europe and offers a glimps of what this place used to be.

This is a small church but it is nice. The coolest thing about it is the placing in town with the road on both sides of it.
