Cordillera Huayhuash

Reviewed By Ernesto83 - Kamloops, Canada

Los Amigos provided the absolute best in value and service for our 9 dat trek. The family run company gave us excellent service, from : organizing and booking; trekking advice; transportation; superb guide; the best cook and assistant; and, dedicated donkey wranglers. The knowledge and experience of the guide, Adolfo, was extraordinary. We explored some of the more difficult areas of the Huayhuash, but the rewards in spectacular vistas made it all worthwhile. All the equipment was good quality and in good condition. We all got into the daily routine and Adolfo always made sure we could all accomplish the goals for the day. The food and food preparation by the cook and assistant astonished us all! Every meal, every day was a delicious and well presented delight. We would highly recommend Los Amigos de Huayhuash for anyone contemplating trekking in the Cordillera Huayhuash.

Laguna Paron

Reviewed By Susysv - Paris, France

The Laguna Paron is one of the most beautiful lakes, and the largest in the Cordillera Blanca. It stands at around 4,200 meters above sea level, so unless you are already totally climatized to the altitude, take it easy hiking around. The water is a blue turquoise color. The lake is surrounded by gorgeous mountains with snowy peaks, the most famous being the Artesonraju mountain. The roads everywhere are unfortunately horrible so the drive over is pretty miserable but definitely worth it. I would recommend going early in the morning, prepare your picnic before, and try to not stop anywhere to avoid losing time. (I went there with a group who made a stop to buy food, we got there when the clouds had already started to cover the mountains).
