Almaty /ˈælməti/ (Kazakh: Алматы, Almaty [ɑlmɑˈtə]; Russian: Алматы), formerly known as Alma-Ata /ˌælmə.əˈtɑː/ (Russian: Алма-Ата) and Verny (Russian: Верный Vernyy), is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with a population of 1,797,431 people, about 8% of the country's total population. It served as capital of the Kazakh state in its various forms from 1929 to 1997, under the influence of the then Soviet Union and its appointees. Alma-Ata was the host city for a 1978 international conference on Primary Health Care where the Alma Ata Declaration was adopted, marking a paradigm shift in global public health. In 1997, the government relocated the capital to Astana in the north of the country, which is about 12 hours away by train.

This company is a fraudulent company and they are cheating the customers. I was promised a full refund after cancelling my bookings due to covid. They did not even make a single booking for me, just cancelled after discussing. I have been promised a refund after a few months and now they are blatantly refusing to honour their promise. Trip advisor should provide a reprive and file a criminal complaint against this company.

I truly recommend SUV tour. Everything was well organized. The guide Chingiz was professional, friendly and flexible to our needs. Ww were not properly equipped for the long trekking and the guide proposed us an alternative itinerary which was amazing as well. We will come back to Almaty region to visit other beautiful places and we will use SUV tour again

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city this is an excellent day trip from Almaty to the Charyn Canyon and neighboring sites. From a scenic hike down the canyon to the river, to the beautiful reflections of the mountains on lake bartogay, you won’t be disappointed. Local wildlife including eagles, gerbils, horses, along the route. Dima, the guide, was very informative about the trip and life in Kazakhstan. Tasty picnic and Park fees, etc included. Highly recommend the trip.
This place was built as a decoration for the film “Nomad”, which was released in 2005. But you will be surprised by how organically it fits into the surrounding landscape and the main second area Buddha petroglyphs. The location they selected was fantastic! Great food and wonderful conversation. Both our tour guides were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the trip. The falcon show was wonderful and Chingiz made sure we all sat in the best spot in the bleachers, The grandkids loved the falcon show. Unique Historical tour to feel real nomadic and medieval atmosphere of ancient Kazakh people. Bes Shatyr is located 195km to the north from Almaty. Translated as “five hills” from Kazak, it looks like ancient necropolis and remains the main ethnographic and archaeological site of Altyn Emel National Park. A huge valley on the north bank of Ili river is used for the thousands of years by different generations of nomads: being a sacred place for ancient people (here they put their dolmens), Bes Shatyr had been also chosen as a burial site by Saki (Scythe) tribes.
