Jaldapara National Park

If you are visiting Jaldapara, best option is to stay at Hollong. Hollong at Jaldapara National Park needs no introduction for anyone who has done their part of research. Situated amidst the lush green forest, right in front of the salt pit, Hollong Tourist Lodge (also known as Hollong Bunglow) is well known for spotting wildlife and activities.

Chilapata Wildlife Sanctuary

Reviewed By sumitranjandasgupta - Kolkata (Calcutta), India

Chillapata Wildlife Sanctuary is in the Dooars region of Alipurduar, West Bengal. It is about 200 km away from Bagdogra Airport and takes about 4hrs drive. We were five people travelling together in the month of November. There is a wonderful West Bengal Forest Department's Hotel called Malangi Tourist Lodge ( At Barodabri ) where we put up for two nights on 15th & 16 November 2019. The best rooms that we stayed in were Sankosh and Raidak. The hotel is just by the side of the forest. The Manager of the hotel, Mr Madan Barman was an extremely nice person and all the stuff were excellent. The food was simple but very very good. We went for a Jeep Safari ( There is also an elephant safari ) in the early morning. The jungle is extremely dense and there is no metallic road inside. It is so dense that the trees and shrubs would touch both the sides of the Jeep. The smell and the aroma of the jungle is soul satisfying. We were almost in a trance with the beauty of the forest. It is not important whether you see any animal or not. Just enjoy the colour of the jungle, the Scent of the forest. We could see a couple of Rhinos, wild boars, and the call of the barking deer. There were also some bleeding trees called " Ramgua Trees" whose colour of the Sap is blood red. Long long ago there was a kingdom called Nall Rajar Kingdom and a fort ( now completely swallowed by the forest ). The jungle is so dense that it could be called a " forest blanket ". The safari took about 2 1/2 hrs - 3 hrs. Next we headed for Bauxa Tiger Reserve. I have visited many forests of India and five National parks of Kenya ( Africa ) but I really had fallen in love with the beauty of Chillapata forest.
