Cais Palafitico do Porto da Carrasqueira

Reviewed By Nuno M - Lisbon, Portugal

It's true that the place looks like it could be refurbished but it's poor construction is what gives its magic.
It's basically a set of wooden walkways over the water with wooden shacks for fisherman. Nevertheless it's the trip going there specially if one stayed at the beach of Comporta or nearby.
If possible, stay there for the sunset. The walkway has a specific design that puts its dead ends towards the sunset.

Cripta Arqueologica de Alcacer do Sal

Reviewed By Entiat - Issaquah, Washington

Costs €1.50 to enter, you get a short movie telling the history and a self-guided tour through a well-labelled excavation site. Not a big site; plan to spend 30-60 minutes on this.
Walls, artifacts, wells, religious symbols - ranging from iron age, through Roman, Muslim and medieval periods.
Highly recommended - don't miss this if you are in the area.

Castle of Alcacer do Sal

Reviewed By Entiat - Issaquah, Washington

The castle itself fell into serious disrepair before being restored into a pousada, so there isn't a ton to see of it. Some walls that you can walk along (inside and outside the castle), really.
The highlight is the little museum and self-guided tour of a fantastic archaeological site *under* the castle. Costs €1.50 and takes 30-60 minutes. Well worth the visit!

Santuario do Senhor dos Martires

Reviewed By PPCI-BG - Italy

Reviewed By Dmitry D - Murmansk, Russia
