Bomarsund Fortress

Reviewed By teadrinker7 - Stockholm, Sweden

The ruin it’s nice in itself, but we took a hike with 3 beautiful views. It’s about 10 km all in all and some steep hills. First we went to prästön, and prästtornet (priest tower), from there you get a really nice view of the ruin and the inlet. Then the 8 km hike described on the map by the ruin. From the ruin the view is nice, but it’s well worth climbing to the top of djävulsberget (devil mountain) where you get a scenic view of the whole area.

The Maritime Quarter

I really like this part of Mariehamn, in my opinion the best, more interesting and picturesque. Great to see the old chapel, the fisherman houses, old boats, shipyards and the very atmospheric shops and museums (including a pub that look like a boat cabin) absolutely recommended visit

Eckero Kyrka

The church is from 13th century and located less than 1 km from the main road. I was visiting it in the evening, and the door was open. Inside it represents a typical Alandia feature, ships hanging from the ceiling.
