What to do and see in Al Satwa, Emirate of Dubai: The Best Things to do

November 12, 2021 Jana Sager

Dubai is a destination that mixes modern culture with history, adventure with world-class shopping and entertainment. Catch a show at the Dubai Opera, see downtown from atop the Burj Khalifa and spend an afternoon along Dubai Creek exploring the gold, textile and spice souks. If you’re looking for thrills, you can float above the desert dunes in a hot air balloon, climb aboard a high-speed ride at IMG Worlds of Adventure or skydive over the Palm Jumeirah.

My family and I absolutely loved this place! I would not compare it with a botanical garden as some reviewers here did. To me the concept is simply unique. It’s revolutionizing the traditional zoo and brings the experience to a different level. Ok, but now to the facts: - inside you can find the largest indoor man-made life-sustaining tree; - if I understood correctly big part of the animals were rescued (mainly from people keeping them inside); - the staff is well informed, super friendly and answered all of my questions with love for the animal; - it provides educational insights in a real-time environment - my daughter (3,5 y) was so overwhelmed by the tomato frog for instance and talks about it all the time; - there was a thunderstorm/rain falling at noon - It really felt like we were in a tropical rain forest; - I must say I don’t regret paying a full price for the little one, although I think there should be a smarter pricing plan for kids between 3-6 (but that’s applicable to anywhere here in Dubai); - you should take your time and really let work on you - it’s a world of its own and just going in and walking down the aisle seeing left and right some strange birds is not what this place is about;

Satwa is almost like a piece of the Philippines with a large selection of shops and restaurants with prices most often well below the typical tourist areas of other parts of Dubai. Here you will find nice and helpful people in an atmosphere that is warm and cozy. The easiest way to get here is to use Taxi, but bus is a good and affordable option. Highly recommend a visit, besides, it's relatively short to both the beach and the rest for those who love to use their legs and love the heat.

We walked here from our hotel, the Sofitel Downtown, took about 15-20 mins through the City Walk area a modern development so all very pleasant. From the moment we arrived my 4 year old was bursting with excitement - 99 AED for us both to get in and included a kids meal. Various play areas all based on Mattel characters. Bob the B, Fireman Sam, Barney , Thomas plus various stage shows - everything was spotless and the staff full of energy , happy , and super helpful. Thoroughly recommended for young kids.

Coca-Cola Arena

Reviewed By BalkrishnaShroff - Mumbai, India

Coca Cola Arena is a new landmark in downtown Dubai built by Meeras group.We attended the concert of Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on 27th December. The security arrangement was great, within 2 minutes we were inside. We had the tickets of VIP box on 3rd floor. There were people standing all along the way to guide us to reach our box. The VIP box was great with a sitting capacity of about 30 people with private toilet only for box guests.. There was a complimentary lavish buffet spread of fruits, dry fruit, snacks, main course, desert and soft drinks. The arena had a capacity of 17K and the show was 90% full. The lighting and acoustic were of very high standard. The entire arena was of world class. It was really a dream come true to hear magical voice of Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in such an excellent setting. The exit was equally smooth. Our box had its own lift to go down. The police arrangement was top class. The new landmark not to be missed while in Dubai !!
