We toured Petra and Wadi Rum on a private 1 day tour for 4 people with Why Jordan Tours in March 2020. The tour was arranged through Desert Eco Tours in Eilat. I cannot say enough great things about everyone associated with our tour. First of all we were encouraged by the Israeli side to get to the border crossing as early as possible to allow for as much time as possible in Jordan. Excellent advice, as we had plenty of time to see and do everything you could possibly pack into a 1 day trip. We were met on the Jordan side of the border crossing by personnel from Why Jordan Tours who made the crossing fast and easy. Since we were traveling at the start of the Corona Virus outbreak this was no small feat. We then met our fabulous guide, Abdulkareem Helalat, and very professional and friendly driver, Mohammad Althnibat, and began ur journey to Petra. Our vehicle was very comfortable and Mohammad is a skilled and careful driver and we always felt very secure. Kareem grew up in Wadi Musa and was able to provide us both the history of Jordan in general and the Petra area in particular as well as interesting information about daily life in that area. We immediately hit it off when he offered us some yummy sweet pastries his wife had baked that morning. Mr. Kareem made us feel as if we were not just clients but his special guests for the day. He was very informative about both the archaeology and the geology we viewed and was very understanding when we had to take short breaks along our hike into and around Petra. While I am sure we saw all the things most tourists see in a 1 day trip to Petra, I feel confident that we saw much more and got much more “inside info” about what we were seeing than the usual tour. Petra is truly amazing. The idea that this spot was a hidden gem for 2 centuries is unbelievable. I would encourage everyone to take the hike in to Petra because there is so much to see and so much information about the people that created Petra that can best be understood on the way in with an excellent guide, like Kareem. There is so much to see in Petra that a single day really is not enough, but that is all the time we had allotted. I am sure in more normal times Petra is filled with tourists. However, we were able to enjoy Petra with relatively small crowds. After touring Petra we had a great lunch in Wadi Musa. The food was both tasty and filling and we enjoyed Kareem’s company at lunch. While there was 1 other tour group there, the rest of the guests appeared to be local people out for a nice lunch. Definitely not the usual “tour lunch” . After lunch we proceeded back towards Wadi Rum. Wow! Wadi Rum is an example of the stark beauty that makes the desert so stunning. If you want to see what Mars is like there is no need to travel to the red planet, just go to Wadi Rum for a Jeep tour into the heart of the desert. We got on the back of a 4wheel drive pickup and took off across the desert floor. We parked the truck and picked a nice spot to watch the sun set in front of us and the moon rise behind us. Since it was a full moon the sight could not have been more spectacular. We all credit Mr. Kareem with providing us with an excellent tour and to leave us feeling both cared for and cared about.

It’s really a unforgettable experience. Emad picked up me from my hotel . He is a very good guide . He knows the city inside out . Cause he had been doing this for a long time . He gave me a quick briefing about the tour . He told me I can spend as long as I like if I am interested in some places . To void crowds we should visit the mosque first. Nobody was there when we arrived . So the mosque opened the door just for me . What a VIP treat . After the mosque we went to citadel. I loaned to stay there for 45 minutes . After I stepped in , there was a magic in the air. I instant fall in this place . The view is spectacular , 360 degrees panorama view of Amman city . The ruined monuments and the temple, also the museum just kept me going for ever. When I realized my next appointment was coming . I have stayed there by myself almost 2.5 hours . Emad was patiently waiting for me outside . When I ready to leave , he was there already to pick me up . Due to the timing , he suggested me servers new plans . They are all sounds very interesting . If I have time I will contact him and let him to show me all the best places in Amman . I really enjoyed this trip ....

We booked an 1 hour& half jeep tour at visitors center, starting at 6 PM from Memories Aicha Luxury camp. Our guide, a very young beduin -Abdel Kareem- was very profesional and punctual. We climbed the red sand dunes and took beautiful pictures of the protected area. Then he took us at Jebel Khazali and explained us the historical and religious importance of the inscriptions on the walls of the canyon. Our next stop was the incredible Um Frouth bridge and took amazing photos. We waited for the impressive sunset in the desert. The silence and immensity of the desert give your a peaceful feeling. Scotia and Khaled arranged a fantastic weekend trip for us. I requested the sunrise hike up Jbel Um Ad Dani and it was arranged very well. From the flexible time for us to arrive from Amman on Thursday, to ensuring we got up the peak in time for sunrise and had a fire to keep us warm. I’ll do the same trip with them again when family can come back to Jordan. Definitely recommended, in particular for ease of booking and value for money.
