We booked a 3h canyoning trip in advance (contact via WhatsApp with Rashid +96892360136). There are two tours: A 5 hour tour through the snake canyon and a shorter tour through another canyon close by. The longer tour bigger jumps and longer abseiling. But the canyon didn’t carry enough water thou we did the 3 h tour. We had a great tour and felt very safe. Our guide took us afterwards to his home where we had lunch which was delicious. (Bring long shorts for the home visit to be polite). We highly recommend the tour to everybody who visits this area and is a little adventurous.

We arrived late by car, and were warmly welcomed by Rajib who showed us to our villa. As it was a special occasion, there were flowers, fizz, balloons, cake and he had even signed a card. It started the weekend on a nice note which continued throughout. The pool villa is really spacious, and we loved its privacy. The shower is spectacular too. It was the perfect place to switch off, read, rock climb and enjoy cooler weather. If I was to nitpick, the food was quite hit and miss - room service especially was pretty inedible at times - but it didn't put a dampener on a brilliant weekend.

Wadi Ghul - Oman's Grand Canyon

Reviewed By I8925AJandrewa - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

We drove to Jebel Shams for a couple of days of walking in the mountains. We didn't do what most people seem to come here to do. We had decided in advance that the Balcony Walk probably wasn't for us - it looked a bit too busy and a bit too scary in places. We spent the first day following the W4 walk along the top of the canyon. It's a steady walk requiring only a moderate level of fitness. We didn't see another walker on the W4 route all day, so I would recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of peace and quiet. The views are breathtaking and there are plenty of great spots to sit and have lunch. On the second day, we picked up a trail behind one of the resorts in Jebel Shams, walked it for a while before going off piste to explore the nearby gullies. It was a bit more strenuous with some slow going on the rocky descents, but still accessible to most.

Bike and Hike Oman - Tours

Bike and Hike Oman was established in 2012 as a new branch of an established Omani group of companies with the goal to offer professional cycling and hiking tourism in Oman. Our company is thus part of one of the largest tourism businesses in Oman and with its more than 40 years of experience able to offer the most complete and perfect care to all visitors of the country. The first base of Bike and Hike Oman was established at The View hotel, a property as well belonging to the same group of companies. It is situated in Al Hamra a small oasis in the Hajar mountains. From there the company offers since autumn 2012 guided tours with its full suspension mountain bikes and hikes which have been completely newly created by Bike and Hike Oman and have never been done before and are unique in the country. The exploration of and getting to know the Omani culture and heritage plays an at least equal role to the delight of sports and exercise under the southern sun.
