This is definitely a place to be recommended and very nice in general. Nevertheless, there are better Italian restaurants in Villach.
For us, they put a bit too much of garlic in their seafood. Also we prefer smaller and thinner calamari (grilled) as they can be cooked better.

We went there today for lunch. We had the most perfect tasting pizzas of our holiday. One pizza was not available anymore whereby the waitress really went out of her way to make us happy. Excellent desert as a goodbye. Will definitely come again; great atmosphere

I've really enjoyed my experiences here, particularly in the summer when there is outside dining. The beer is wonderful, and the food is solid and local. I've had no troubles with the Waitstaff, but I will note that this place, along with the rest of the town, rolls up its sidewalks on the early side if one is used to big city life. It's open from lunch on.

The perfect place to let your day come to end. Enjoy a good kitchen, nice pizzas and others... The staff is super fast and friendly. Even you come with special wishes, no problem at all... they serve as you wish! Nothing to complain about. Enjoy!!!

We stumbled across this marvellous venue whilst exploring Villach on an overnight transit stop. We sat in the garden courtyard on a pleasant summer evening surrounded by Austrian families - one with three generations celebrating grandfather’s birthday. The staff took delight in explaining the Austrian dishes in perfect English and we were not disappointed. Our a la carte selection was surprisingly cheaper than the set menu.

Restaurant Lagana is hotel restaurant of the Holiday Inn Villach. But, when you enter the restaurant you do not have the impression you are in hotel. It is one of the best restaurants in Villach. The menu is not very large, but all meals are very tasty and good. The choice of wines is also very good. The service is excellent. The only weak point are the prices. It is expensive restaurant.

A good friend of mine recommended I go to Josef during my stay in Carinthia and I loved it! I ordered some of their hand-made Käsnudel and they were the best I have ever had (sorry oma!).. The waiter was also very friendly and spoke good english.
I look forward to my next visit!

We've had plenty of rich, heavy food in Austria. Coming to Gasthof Hofwirt was like coming home after the holiday. It offers good home food, large portions at a very reasonable price and it's all done with smiling waiters, unobtrusive care, in a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
You wouldn't know that this place exists from the street. You have to work a little and walk down a covered arch, past some shops of offices and at the end, you step into a tree covered, lantern lit courtyard with locals playing cards and smoking cigarettes. I would come back here.
My husband had a mixed grill which was so large I thought they had made a mistake and served it for two. The meat, fries and salad were fresh, tasty and most importantly, varied in taste. I had the chicken schnitzel and potato salad which was very large as a portion (I didn't finish it) and it was made with a real chicken breast (rather than those manufactured schnitzels some places have).
This hearty dinner for two was not fancy and neither was the bill. Including drinks, it was about 45 EURO. We enjoyed the meal as much as the peaceful and relaxed atmosphere.

We were so satisfied with all food, so we came 3 days in a row. Everything was excellent, we tried different meals, but burger, chicken wings and onion rings were our favourites! We would definetly come back next year!
