The Guljar

We experienced very bad customer service, and the food was warm not even hot neither was the hot plates. our friend got given a cake and to give it back to her to take home they got a bit of cardboard out of the bin and gave her that to put it on. as we left one of the men called us back and said they would not accept one of the £20 note... this is because it had a slight rip in! they then held two out of the five of us there until it was changed and said we could not leave without getting a different one. overall the food was horrendous and would never be going back, all of us also felt sick after this experience and will not be going back.Hi it is not nice. We provide cake free complimentary drinks. You never told us food was not hot . when you give us one £20 pound note is half even don't tell us that's time we call you beck .

Tamarind

Ordered a home delivery. Was delivered well within the time given on order. Ordered a Chicken Madras with rice. Rice OK but the Chicken Madras was not. It was cooked chicken covered in a madras sauce. Not my understanding of how a curry is cooked. Surely the chicken, or whatever meat, should be cooked as part of the overall curry, not just covered in the appropriate sauce.

Mahdi Spice

We had a lovely Indian meal at the Mahdi Spice on Sunday evening recently. The place wasn't very full and we had the full attention of the three waiters who looked after us extremely well. We started with a couple of popadums and a variety of 5 different pickles, including my favourite lime pickle and a special, homemade one from the restaurant based on a spicy ketchup. I washed this down with a pint of Cobra beer. For starters I wanted to try a spicy lentil Dhal. Unfortunately what came wasn't that spicy but it was still tasty enough. I had a bit more luck with the chicken vindaloo which had a bit more kick to it - just... My beer glass must had had a hole in it as the Cobra disappeared quite quickly making room for a pint of Kingfisher.Service throughout was polite and friendly even when I made the faux pas and enquired about the absence of any Diwali celebrations. This restaurant is run by Muslims. Oops, sorry.
