Tried this for lunch and enjoyed the special chicken with rice and salad. A good choice of meals on the menu, including Lebanese pizzas, mezze and a range of grills with quick and friendly service. Great value for money.

Little Marrakech

This tiny restaurant has been superbly decorated with fabrics, lanterns and mirrors so you really feel you might have stepped out of the bazaar and into a little corner of Marrakech.

Reviewed By MichaelJohnMichael

I have been here a number of times both as a twosome and solo. Despite looking quite small from the front it goes back quite a way and opens up so a larger group could be catered for. It is decorated in an authentic Moroccan style that enhances the experience.Compared to many the food is generally quite healthy with salads, chicken, vegetables, etc. On my last visit I started with the spicy sausages on salad followed by the chicken tagine. A word of caution the food arrives piping hot so is best left for a few minutes before starting. The service has always been polite and friendly, with smiles thrown in. Too many places now have staff that give you the feeling they do not want to be there. The mark up on the wine is also reasonable rather than excessive!

Tabure

A modern Turkish kitchen offering great quality fresh & nutritious recipes handed down & perfected over many generations in a buzzy and vibrant atmosphere.

Reviewed By sattyl2016

I visited family in St Albans and was sent the menu for Tabure as recommended and was sold by the food, as I absolutely really enjoy the flavours of Turkish food. The food was amazingly tasty from the bread / hummus, meze’s and the mains of the chicken thighs, cod/chickpea combination, kofte’s. The atmosphere was really pleasant and a nice vibe with elegant seating. The only disappoint was the service which was not friendly and quite forceful of the food choices, restrictions on the 2 hour slots and generally aggressive...chill out guys we’re are at your establishment to relax and enjoy fine food. I am really happy to hear you enjoyed the food at Tabure. My wife who greeted and served your table in part is the inspiration behind the food on offer at Tabure, something that was sadly lost on you all. I’m not sure if you have ever had the joy of setting up a restaurant, but from our experience delivering food of the quality that you comment about, sadly does not leave much time for chilling out.In fact the opposite is generally the case, where we work hard to stagger the arrival of guests in order to protect our bar, front of house and kitchen teams from being overwhelmed on what are always very busy evenings in a vibrant atmosphere, and ensure a smooth service for everyone. We are equally mindful to communicate when someone is booking on a high table which we did with yourselves when we took your reservation for 7pm. It was also explained that with a table booked already after you at 9.15pm we would require the table back at 9pm to prepare and greet the next customers. There were no issues raised by you at that point. As such it was a shame for us when you arrived only to have you complain immediately about sitting at a high table. And equally sad when our staff then tried to assist you as we do with all first time diners, to explain the menu and our style of service. Sadly your dismissive responses made it harder for our team to maintain the otherwise pleasant atmosphere that you comment on being present on arrival. Cold to our guidance you ordered sporadically which again you were advised might take longer for the kitchen to prepare. Again you made very clear that you didn’t appreciate the advice, clearly having no regard for the team that worked so hard to make the night an enjoyable one for everyone. But the fact that despite your best efforts not to enjoy your interactions with our staff and insistence of ordering at will, we did our best to ensure your food was ordered when you wished to order, served, and cleared as required. You also had over 2hr45mins at the table as rotated tables to accommodate you.Thankfully you were the only difficult table to look after that evening as otherwise we would have had chaos and stress, and I’m sure a very different atmosphere than the one we work hard to create and you appeared to enjoy. As reasoned as I would hope my response sounds, the reality is, from your reaction on the night & subsequent review, having been presented with the same logic on the night that you had no interest in trying to work with us to ensure a smooth service for you and all the other diners that night. If my experience running a restaurant is of any interest to you, the only chance we get to chill out is by 1am the next morning when all the guests are gone and we are able to finally sit down and breath. And if we didn’t have the work ethic we do, we probably wouldn’t have a successful and busy restaurant that won best restaurant last week in the St Albans Food & Drink awards. And which has after winning last years best restaurant award, again been shortlisted for best restaurant in the St Albans Chamber of Commerce awards. We go by two mantras, paylasmak sevmektir, meaning to share is to love and ‘hard work pays off’ hopefully so that you can go by yours of ‘relax’ and ‘enjoy fine food’. It sadly appears you failed in achieving yours on this occasion.

Having seen the reviews we walked down from the town centre looking for this little gem. At first glance we weren’t too sure of the place when we got there, especially my teenage kids. But the food soon arrived and what a treat it was! The chicken was delicious and the rice even more so. I ordered the baby chicken in Arabic sauce. There was so much food on my plate I shared it out. I could easily have eaten the rice on its own it was that good. The service was good. No frills just fab food. As others have said take cash. I am looking forward to going again!! Next time I will try the vegetarian dishes yummmmm

My Husband and I decided to try this restaurant for a quick supper last week, bad choice on my behalf. My Husband is from the Middle East so we know what we are talking about. We ordered a mixed meze and were very disappointed from the begining, what should be hot was cold and what should be cold was hot. We then had lamb and chicken, it was cold on arrival and we notified the waiting staff who replaced it with the same plates just warmed up, but the lamb was still not cooked all the way through. The service was appalling and so was the food. I would never recommend this restaurant, they just don’t have any customer service skills and the chef cannot cook!!!!Hi Imanthankyou for taking the time and effort to review our restaurant. I just want to check if you really posting to right place as we don't have on our menu a mix meze platter . Also the only cold starters we have are the dips and the salad and these can't be served hot.I am sure you are addressing your review to the wrong place.hope to see you soon in our place so you can try our dishes.thanks Nana's

We had a very good meal in this popular local Turkish eatery. Even on a Wednesday evening the place was very busy - so, book? Service is a mix of very pleasant and rather grumpy depending, we sensed, on the level of English spoken by waiters; service was a touch slow overall. Really tasty food and generously sized portions; reasonable prices, too.

Bit of a mixed review for our mixed shish dishes...Friendly staff, clean restaurant and the food was OK but nothing outstanding. Very pricey in comparison to other Mangal-type restaurants and not reflected in the taste or portion sizes. Probably wouldn't go back.
