We wre a party of four, and were impressed with the overall finish of the place. Interesting menu and pleasant staff but the place does get very busy even midweek lunch time so booking is strongly advised.Three of or party really like the food, unfortunately one was not so happy saying the squid was rubbery and the bubble & squeak on the mains was bland.

We have had disappointing Sunday lunches elsewhere and thought we would try the Queenâs Head. It did not disappoint. The service was excellent. The food delicious. Stunning wines and a great atmosphere. The Wheatsheaf is part of the Pearmain Group which is a collection of 8 pubs located in Surrey & South West London.All (I believe) have Gardens which is great for an Al Fresco eating experience.The Menus are all virtually identical so if you like the Wheatsheaf food the other 7 would appeal.Given parking can be challenging in Esher this has Pub has a large Car Park, although at busy times it can fill up alarmingly quickly.Itâs also Dog friendly, and as we went with friends with hounds, I can testify to a great Doggy experience!Weâre au fait with the Menu and werenât let down plus there are always Specials so ask to check this out if not volunteered when ordering.The experience was very good although as it got busier there was a distinct correlation between waiting times which towards the end was a little disappointing.Waiting forever to get the Bill is also not good.The ambience is very buzzy and itâs tastefully laid out.Pearmain Pubs deliver a consistent experience and The Wheatsheaf didnât disappoint.

I happened upon this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. The servers were fantastic; good people. The food was excellent. The lamb shank was spectacular; one of the best lamb shanks I have had, and very nicely presented. I also had the candied beetroot, which was like having dessert with my dinner. If you love beets, you will love this dish. This is definitely a restaurant that serves drinks, rather than a pub and all the better for some innovative dishes and flavours. Like most gastropubs, the interior is modern, with a welcome sense of space even when itâs really busy. Friendly and efficient service is a feature. We had a couple of plates of mini pork belly bites to share as a starter, which were really tasty, even if theyâre not remotely healthy! The chicken wings were amazing, with a spicy sauce and lots of meat. Most us had the burger for our main, which everyone enjoyed. Thereâs a good selection of beer and wine, including a nice Beavertown lager. A good time was had by all.

Excellent Sunday lunch with friends today. Both food and service were outstanding. Quite the best roast lamb Iâve eaten. Friends had beef which was beautifully cooked, and pork belly which apparently was âsuperbâ. Definitely deserves all five stars.Dear Jan, Thank you for taking the time to review us. Very disappointed to see a couple of poor reviews here because we were delighted with our first visit here. The friendly and very knowledgeable personal service from the owner was delightful (although to be fair her very foreign and very young waitress was a little out of her depth). Her husband in the kitchen has some serious skills in both preparation and presentation, and his previous experience with Leith and Ramsay shines through.For a 2 rosette restaurant prices are sensible for the quality offered, especially the wine flight accompanying the tasting menu at only an additional £20 which represents excellent value. Above all for us, as experienced diners, it was particularly refreshing to be served by someone with good personal knowledge of her menu and its ingredients, and of her wine list. We did test her on both of these and were impressed with the accuracy of her replies. When I queried her recommended dessert wine the offer of a free glass was a very nice touch.A nice little family run business with a serious attitude to their craft and well deserving of their 2 rosettes. Highly recommended.

Sunbury matters person has got it so so wrong.The White Horse is still one of the better pubs in this area. Clean, good value for money and great food. All staff are good and Lulu is a great person to have behind the bar. She is the life and sole of the party. Sheâs efficient, funny and runs a great bar, most pubs in the area want her, but she remains loyal to the Horse.

Make sure you book in advanced to avoid disappointment as this place is always busy! With both and outside area for the summer and an inside section for the colder months you can enjoy this amazing food at any time. The manchego cheese with red onion is my favourite. Amazing service, the girl serving us was so lovely and we found out it was her first day! Good job and great food!
