Lonely Planet were right - it is excellent
Reviewed By Andy WI stayed a couple of nights in April, a quiet time of year. Standing outside the gate, does not look promising - but open that gate and a delightful property appears. Albina was indeed helpful e.g. arranging an early morning taxi to the bus station. The large dogs were friendly, once they had taken an initial look at me. I had a delightful private room upstairs - separate toilet and shower rooms were shared with one (?) other room. Easy to get to the centre and transport hubs - a few minutes walk from busy bus routes, or about 30-40 minutes walk. A very large supermarket was about 5 minutes walk over a railway bridge.

Really like your home
Reviewed By Wanying Emilie KWe arrived in Shymkent without any booking and the tourist center recommended us Hostel Home. 3 bus arrive nearby the house (14 and 44 if I remember correctly). It's a big house, with cosy kitchen, large shared and very clean bathroom, nice rooms. The bed are hard but the family is incredibly friendly. Nina speaks Russian, and his son and daughter in law speak a good english. They helped us to organize our time in Shymkent, and we had good discussions. And Nina prepare delicious jams... Arrives a Shymkent sans reservation, le bureau touristique devant la gare nous a conseille Home Hostel. 3 bus arrivent pres de la maison (14 et 44 si je me souviens bien). La maison est grande, avec une cuisine comme dans un chalet de montagne, une grande salle de bains tres propre, des chambres agreables. Le lit etait plutot dur, mais la famille est d'une hospitalite et chaleur incroyable. Nina parle russe mais son fils et sa belle-fille parlent anglais et nous ont aide a organiser notre temps a Shymkent. Nous avons passe du temps a discuter, tres chouette endroit. Et les confitures de Nina sont excellentes...

Very poor service!
Reviewed By Ties SWe booked this hostel for 2 nights. The rooms and bathrooms are oke, only the matress is very thin. In there afternoon there came many children to the hostel. They maked noise and run trough the hostel untill 2 am. And they start again early in the morning. In the morning we decided to leave the hostel, because it was not possible to sleep there. It was not possible to get the money back for the second night.... We didn’t booked with a booking site and didn’t get why it was not possible? Because they do nothing about the noise of the children. After a long discussion we get 80% back. So the hostel is oke, but the service is very bad.
