Highly recommended excellent service and quality

Absolutely fantastic stay at the Commodore Hotel, was greeted with a very refreshing cup of tea/coffee after a long drive . Our bags were taken from us and taken to our respective rooms , also we had our bikes with us for doing the Tarka Trail , again these were also taken from us and stored inside the hotel in a safe locked room. Breakfast the next morning was excellent service was amazing, and nothing was to much trouble from all the staff. Would highly recommend a stay at the Commodore Hotel and hopefully we will return very soon.

Comfortable But Should Be More

Reviewed By ESP2006

We have paid a good deal of money to be members of Diamond Resorts and also pay for annual fees. Allowing for Covid impact, we would like to enjoy the dame level of good service we have enjoyed overseas this year. All that aside Woodford Bridge is a pleasant and relaxing resort . Our lodge was comfortable and well equipped if a little tired. We like the resort but even before Covid the overall experience has dipped. We are hoping that from 2022 the service levels improve. Even so, many thanks to the Reception Team for their friendly and helpful service The resort is nicely situated for visiting a range of north Devon attractions but you will need a car to make the most of your stay. Enjoy the peaceful location.

Called for meal at 6pm on way back from Bude and had excellent restaurant meal. Fairly quiet as after school half term, but good quick service and pork and lamb meals were delicious and plates left clear. Pub/Inn very clean and tidy with good parking available. Quality takes some beating and very good value. Only downside was on the very busy approach road, no sign for pub, and existing signs on pub front need cleaning as drove past as on busy bend. There is a sign from Biddeford direction though.

We stayed in this hotel for the week of the jubilee celebrations, part of a majestic self drive package. When we arrived there was plenty of parking and the reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and quickly and efficiently identified our booking and room which was dog friendly (another bonus!!). The room was nice and had recently been refurbished, there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, also hair dryer and ironing board. The ensuite was nice with a very good walk in rain shower and mixer and plenty of towels. Breakfast was very good as was the three course dinner that was included in the evenings (you made your choice for the evening meal at breakfast), breakfast and dinner was very organised and well run with timings to accommodate all of the different groups that were staying. The hotel is full of character and charm and has a unique history, dining area and public areas were lovely including the reading room. I would like to comment and congratulate all of the staff who were so friendly and professional, Sandy and Marion in the dining room in particular, however, all of the staff were excellent, they even went of the way to light a beacon for the jubilee celebrations. The hotel is located in an ideal position to explore North Devon and just down the road from the lovely Northam burrows which links to Appledore and Westward Ho. Great place to walk the dog along the wonderful beach or on the land that surrounds the Royal north Devon Golf club links (the oldest in the country and well worth a visit to the historic club house if you're that way inclined. Overall a fantastic stay, thanks again. Great place to stay if you are a dog owner, the dog even got a welcome pack!! Will definitely visit again!!!!

Overpriced

Reviewed By finelady44

I decided to come here with my family for lunch. We found it draughty, even in the middle of the room. We ordered all together, but some food came out first, and the rest of us had to wait another 20 minutes for the rest of it. They did apologise and gave us extra chips!!!! I had ordered a ham sandwich and the meat was thick and had lots of fat on. I left most of it. There were 6 adults and 2 children and when we had finished there was alot of food left over. The chips were cold and some of the food was dry. My sandwich was £8.95. Too much. It is all over priced and most of it just come out of the freezer. I don`t think I will be back.

Luckily our stay was only one night!

Stayed here for 1 night and thank god it was only one night! Check in was at 4pm, the check in was very strange as there seemed to be a bunch of friends sitting around a sofa smoking and drinking, we thought we was in the wrong place! The rooms were very basic and not very clean, it wasn’t the best stay. Breakfast wasn’t very nice, poor cereal and extra for cooked breakfast but judging by all the dead flies everywhere we decided to pick up something whilst out and about. I would never stay here again

White Hart Hotel

The White Hart Hotel at Fore Street Holsworthy has been an indispensable part of the busy market town's social scene for as long as anyone can remember. Dating back to at least 1591, it is a remarkable place, which just like Dr Who's famous 'Tardis', is seemingly very much bigger on the inside that its façade might suggest. With a welcoming bar serving food, a restaurant downstairs, a huge club-style bar upstairs, rooms to let for B&B, and also Outside Bar facilities, the White Hart has so much to recommend it.

Fantastic food at great prices and lovely staff friendly and welcoming!

We arrived Monday after a very long drive, staying in a cottage in a village not too far away from Holsworthy .we were looking for somewhere for dinner. Although the people who owned the cottage recommended a couple of places these weren’t open on a Monday so I had a google and stumbled on the White Hart and I am so glad I did, as the food was amazing. The first night we had steak that you cook on hot rocks at your table, I had always wanted to do this but the only places I’ve seen this before was double the price. I wasn’t disappointed and can highly recommend this. ( I also had the prawns one night that you also cook on the rocks. The food was so nice we ate there most nights, lovely home cooked pie, lovely lasagne and the chips were amazing too. On Sunday we booked the carvery and this was really good and fantastic value at £9.50 each., the puddings were delicious too. The staff are all love.y and made us very welcome and we will definitely go back when we are next in the area. Thank you to everyone at the white hart fantastic place and highly recommend .
