Schloss Corvey

UNESCO World Heritage Site CORVEY The former Benedictine abbey of Corvey is considered to be one of the most important monastic establishments in medieval Germany and has been appointed a UNESCO World Heritage site. After nearly 1000 years of monastic life, today’s visitors are received into a baroque castle complex under ducal ownership. The early medieval westwork, the baroque monastery, as well as the princely library with about 75,000 volumes, fascinate guests from all over the world. A visit to Corvey is a splendid experience with its museum, castle restaurant, the Corvey wine house and the Weser Activity Hotel - Corvey is close to the Weser cycle path, too.

Kilianikirche

Reviewed By Lavarcham - Poulton Le Fylde, United Kingdom

The twin towered church is very nicely proportioned and simply furbished. It is near the centre of this small pretty town which has a number of attractive buildings including the Rathaus. We broke our journey here and had coffee, sandwiches and apspfelkuchen at the Westbomke cafe which from the brisk trade is obviously a popular place for locals to get their lunch - it was good.

St Nikolai Church

Home to the famous tale, the town of Hameln is really magic. We arrived in the evening and walked along the main street to St Nikolai church. It was closed but there were people inside rehearsing carols for Easter. It was all lit up and all around the square you could feel a jocund atmosphere , the beauty and enchantment of the place. Everything is inspired to the legend of the magic piper, there are statues and pictures all around the town and it seems to go back to Middle Ages.
