Alicia and G were great with the kids (aged 6-10), however the ratio of instructors per child was far too high to provide appropriate assistance. They are apparently licensed for 1:8, but for kids this age, it probably should be much less for the kids to get something out of it.

Family outing with two kids (11 & 8) and 70 year old Nanna. Yep we all did this and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Refreshing that there was an activity that we all could do that was reasonably priced. The guides were friendly and took everyone’s photo of them on their camel with a smile. Would highly recommend when visiting the dunes. Good fun for everyone to enjoy

So much fun
Easy going but pretty well organised bunch who came across as more than happy to get us onto the dunes.
Fun shuttle across the sand out to the slide site then a quick, concise briefing on the do’s, don’ts & how to’s then over to us to climb the dunes.
Happy squeals on the way down then face splitting grins at the bottom before trudging back up for the next slide.
Wasn’t a long wait for the shuttle back to the car park.
As if his sense of excited accomplishment wasn’t enough, Master 4 was presented with a ‘Sandboarding Champion’ Certificate to take home.
A must do activity for ALL ages.

It's OK. Some of the holes are a challenge and it was a good filler activity but the facility is a little run-down, and not a lot of variety in the holes, and it is frustratingly cash only...though they do have an on-site ATM. Course is undercover so good for a rainy day.

It seemed like a good idea to take the bus to and from the Midnight Oil concert at the Hope Estate. Last time for us.
Alarm bells should have started to ring when passengers boarded carrying alcohol laden eskies and bags and started to consume them on the way. This was despite the ticket stating that alcohol could not be consumed on the bus.
The bus ticket also clearly stated that the bus would leave 20 minutes after the concert finished - and this is where our issue lies. We arrived back well within time, most of the other passengers were back within the 20 minutes, many of them under the weather.
The bus however was held up for over an hour by an incident involving one passenger. There were numerous phone calls by several friends of this person and a friend who was with her but who kept hanging up, reports of convulsions, unconsciousness, excess alcohol consumption and ambulances.
We were not provided with any explanations as to what was going nor why we were waiting for a passenger who was clearly not well enough to be travelling on a bus. In the meantime the drinking continued on board.
After an hour we were the only bus left in the car park. At one point a traffic controller got on and in no uncertain terms said the bus had waited long enough - and yet still the driver did not go. Some passengers started shouting from the back of the bus in frustration trying to find out what was going on.
Unbelievably, the bus finally turned around and drove to where an ambulance cart had brought the intoxicated person up to the car park. She was then put on the bus for the 90 minute trip back to Port Stephens. This was despite the earlier reports of convulsions that we overheard. What was the plan if she had taken another turn on the way back??
There was no communication from the driver throughout this ordeal. No apologies for leaving a bus full of people stuck in a car park for more than an hour. No explanation as to why a seriously intoxicated person was allowed to travel back on a bus when perhaps they should have been in hospital.
It was 1.00 am when we finally reached the depot. If you are going to have terms and conditions on a bus ticket, please stick to them! We did, others did not and as a result dozens of people were inconvenienced. Next time , we' ll find out own way there.
Great concert. Lousy trip home.

Our family loved the surf school. My husband and 2 children did surf school on One Mile Beach whilst I watched and listened on the beach. You can stay with the children or leave them to complete the activity. They learnt all the basics of how to surf. The instructors were very good and kept a close eye on the participants to help and ensure their safety. They supplied all the equipment, wetsuits & board. There was plenty of time to practice in the surf. We all recommend this if you'd like to give Surfing a go
