My friends and I had a great experience during the one hour Icelandic horseback riding tour. We went around the mountains and saw some beautiful views. The horses were lovely and a joy to ride with. Our guide Amanda was very friendly and informative. She was able to teach us how to control the horses to ensure a smooth ride during the entire experience. The prices were average and well worth it. We didn’t book in advance so luckily they were able to accommodate my group of 5. I would definitely recommend this horseback riding experience in Iceland. You won’t get to see these beautiful horses anywhere else.

Went to Núpshestar with my 7year old wich dreams of horses and she or I where not dissapointed. Very nice welcome and the ride was great. Along the river and great landscape had my girl smiling all day. The guide Andrea was great answearing every question a 7year old can dream up. Ended up after 2 hours wich is in my opinium is minimum getting the horses clean and ready for rest.. Great ride and great service????

Welcome to Kálfholt! Kálfholt is a family run horse breeding farm located on the eastern banks of the Þórsá river between the towns of Selfoss and Hella in South Iceland. The farm has been in the family since 1965 and in 1985 began to focus exclusively on breeding top quality Icelandic horses. Today the farm boasts about 100 horses, several of which have gone on to become national champions in many competitions around the country, such as Landsmót 1998.Besides the breeding and training aspects of the farm, Kálfholt also offers year-round riding tours, ranging from child friendly 1 hour tours to week-long tours for experienced riders. We skippes the tourist pools and came here for a fifth of the cost for the same quality. Several warm water pools and hot tubs of varying temperature. Plenty of space and right in Selfoss. A bigger slide and smaller slides for kids. Our kids LOVED this pool. So glad we came here over the much more expensive pools advertised to tourists. No packed pools here! Just tons of fun!

We stumbled upon Kerid volcanic crater while self-driving the Golden Circle and are pleased that we did - colours of the surrounds and the water were sensational. If the weather had been kinder and our timetable had allowed I’d have loved to walk the rim and the lake, both of which are possible and allow amazingly different views. Kerid is about 3,000 years old (half as old as most volcanos in Iceland) which is why - or so I have been led to believe - the iron deposits are still such a rich red rather than blackened. Really crimson, even on our cloudy day. Parking was free, 400Kr entrance fee, which was completely worth it.
