My husband and I were a little nervous to visit these baths but decided to go after visiting Caracalla baths (which we found to be more like a thermal swimming pool). We are so glad we did!! We went on a mixed day. You start at the locker rooms and feel a little sheepish as you walk through to the first station, but after that you quickly settle in and realise it's not that scary. The first few rooms are hot steam rooms and then you move to a scrub (if you get the wellness package) and to the various saunas and spas. There are 17 steps, each noted on a sign at the relative stop (they helpfully give you suggested times to spend at each stop). We finished up faster than the 3.5hrs and went back to saunas/spas we particularly liked... You have ample time so don't rush! We really loved the experience, it was very relaxing and we will 100% visit again. The spa was itself very beautiful and felt very safe. The sleeping room was also a great part of the experience.

Cassiopeia Thermal Bath

This is definitely a day out trip. The Cassiopeia Thermal Baths at Badenweiler is in a very scenic village. Get someone to direct you to the underground car park as you get up to 5 hours free if you use the spa. Park on the upper floor and you easily find your path past beautiful hotels and sculptures. Next to the spa are the Roman Ruins and further around a ruined castles and great scenic views and walks. You enter the spa via social distancing but I would say its quieter than normal. Check before you plan your trip as some days are ladies only in the Roman Irish spa which is in the natural as the thermal waters dissolve swimsuits and it causes pollution of the waters. But remember to take your swimsuit with you as you will need it elsewhere. Everyone showers within the start area before entering the treatment. The roman Irish is a circle of large rooms dry heat at various levels then steam rooms eventually returning to the start area which both warm plunge pools and cold 12*C pools. Here also are the brush massage. Imagine a large soft shaving brush but that looks like a sweeping brush you get special soaps and massage and a exfoliating brushing . You need to book this but it can be done in situ. Your clothes locker has a disc that you can charge any extras to and pay on your way out. You can keep going round or pop back for a shower at any temp you set When done get wrapped in warm blankets as you can relax in the quiet room . Costume on you can either go up to the sun terrace and relax further or have something to eat or enter the swimming pools. The outdoor pool is 28-30*C and is essentially in two parts. Big horseshoe rings have water forced in to help you swim in circles if a strong swimmer try swimming against the flow - very hard but fun. attached to this is the very large main swimming pool. When your done go to the right and under a clear curtain to the dome pool. its just a few steps but 32*/ 33*C Which YOU will find noticeably warmer than the outdoor pools. Come out of the one way of this pool and go to your right to the pool with the bronze statue this is about 36*C and you think you should have started with this but if you do I think you would not go in any of the other pools. Plenty to see and do but remember you only get 5 hours free parking with your entry. Other spa may be bigger but often lack the outdoor / indoor swimming pools which you can use separately or with the RI Spa. Looking for a nice safe place to go during the CV19 pandemic look no further. Very well organised system hand sanitizers and one way system yet a great day out. Gets 5 stars from me.
