Top 9 Sights & Landmarks in Clerkenwell, England

September 16, 2021 Alice Mieles

The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

Charter House

Reviewed By N1394MBdavidm - Newton Mearns, United Kingdom

Absolutely stunning property with wonderful architecture and the most amazing history from links with the plagues of the Black Death, through to its use as a Carthusian monastery, all the way through to its current use as an almshouse for many "brothers" (need to be over sixty and no property of your own) who find this wonderful place to be their home. Our tour guide was Rick and he was so knowledgeable with an encyclopedic grasp of the property from the early 14th century onwards. Never knew an hour long tour to fly by so quickly with visual and historical treats abounding. Superb. ???? All front of house staff were kind and added to a great day out. Thanks. Don't miss out on the Chapel or a view of the exhumed body of the plague victim!!! Poor chap!
