Building on its must-visit location, the once-tiny El Calafate has grown quickly to cater to and profit from the visitors to nearby Los Glaciares National Park. Many visit to see such natural wonders as Perito Moreno Glacier, a massive glacier that’s actually composed of many other pieces of shifting ice. Yet travelers will find that El Calafate is much more than merely a gateway to the Patagonian wild—it’s a fun town offering all sorts of outdoor adventures.

We were born in Calafate in 2005 and we have shared with our village, our country and the world the tradition and wisdom in woolen craft ever since. Our coats and sweaters are handcrafted in first quality Merino wool. All of them are exclusive designs that reflect the true esence of this beautiful region called Patagonia.
Vellon Negro is a fantastic store with beautiful sweaters, cardigans and much more and all knitted in Patagonia. They are both in El Calafate and in El Chalten. You should go there. Fredrik from Stockhollm, Sweden

I bought a corkscrew to use for my wine during my tour to Perito Moreno. Unfortunately, the corkscrew broke while attempting to open my first bottle. Our clever bus driver helped me solve that near disaster, but that's another story! I returned the following day and the manager let me pick a new corkscrew and apologized for the trouble. Very nice.
