Plovdiv Cultural Pub Crawl takes you on a night walk around the most emblematic and historical bars in the city. It's a tour for those who would like to experience the cultural yet buzzing nightlife spots of Plovdiv. You will hear stories about the places visited and meet other tourists from all over the world. Therefore, a nice international evening with a lot of chatting is guaranteed. The event costs 20 lv. and includes some free drinks at most of the places. Each place has its own vibe and will reveal the different faces of the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2019. The pub crawl takes place if at least three people show up at the meeting point at 9 PM. In case there is only one or two guests there will be no pub crawl and you do not pay, but the guides will take you to one or two places you can enjoy together telling each other stories over a drink.

We took the crawl with Viktor and he was a perfect host. He spoke very good English and brought us to about six bars, explaining different aspects of them, and securing drinks which were included. Other guests were also fun and from around the world. Great activity if you are alone, a couple, or traveling with friends.

We highly recommend this tour with this tour company! Veneta was our guide and we had so much fun! She bought us to quaint and lovely little bakeries, wine store and restaurant to try the tastes of Bulgaria. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and was ready to answer any of our questions. After a harrowing experience on the train from Sofia to Plovdiv, my husband and I decided to take private transportation to avoid being in a crowd of unmasked travelers on our return to Sofia. We were lucky enough to book a shuttle that included a tour of two wineries and lunch, and to be the only two customers on the tour! Vasil was our driver and tour guide. He and his wife are co-founders of Bulgarian Wine Tours, a family-run business that specializes in full and multi-day wine and cultural trips throughout Bulgaria. Vasil is a very knowledgeable wine enthusiast himself, teaching my husband and I a great deal about wine-tasting, the history of Bulgaria's wine regions, the wineries we visited on our tour, as well as Bulgarian culture and history. We are looking forward to our next break or when we have visitors come to town, so we can use Vasil's services again. Tipsy bar tour was an awesome experience! The group was full of positive and happy people just like the guides! 4 bars and one club later we were all friends thanks to our host Misho. The bars were quite nice and very different than what we have in my country. I had probably the best drink in my life in one of the bars, a cocktail with gin that was just perfect! I don’t remember the name of the bar, but the bartender, Kamea was just the best bartender ever! Tipsy is definitely something you need to do if you are in Sofia during the weekend!

8. Plovdiv-History and Craft beer Small Group Tour
During this day we will try to introduce to you the philosophy and history of this ancient and beautiful city Plovdiv. The locals are calling this way of thinking “Aylak”. There is no single definition of this word but in general, it means “Don’t Worry, Be Happy“. You will have guided visits to the main historical sites in the old part of Plovdiv, including some interesting museums. In the afternoon, you will enjoy the unique atmosphere of the city in the part called “The trap” where you will try a good local craft beer and relax. When we finish with the Old town we will continue our adventure toward the oldest brewery in Bulgaria. It was established in 1881 and still is one of the biggest beer producers in Bulgaria. We will visit their craft microbrewery, situated in the remains of the old production facilities. You will have the chance to taste their best beers, to have a guided visit to the production area, and to have a great lunch in their restaurant.

I was picked up at my hotel in the morning and taken to where the bikes and gear are kept. Adrian greeted me with a warm welcome and I was quickly outfitted with very nice riding gear. Adrian completed an overview of the trip, a safety brief, and we were on our way. After a short ride through town, we were soon on the highway heading south from Sofia for about an hour. The traffic was light and this was a nice ride. We stopped at a rest stop and Adrian made sure that I was comfortable and that everything was well. After a quick snack and rest, we were back on the highway. After a short ride, we quickly exited the highway and the real fun began! The ride up the mountain was spectacular! Adrian kept a nice pace and checked on me often (as I had not ridden in a few years). After a 45-minute winding ride up the gorgeous hillside, we arrived at the Rila Monastery. What a beautiful place with a rich history set with high mountain tops in the background. Adrian, who had a tourism degree, provided a detailed account of the amazing story of the monastery from it's beginnings to modern-day. After a few hours strolling around the grounds, we got back on the bikes and went a short way back down the mountain and enjoyed an incredible lunch at a very nice restaurant and sat right next to a beautiful river. The fresh trout was delicious! The tour then took a detour to a very nice winery and I purchased four bottles of wine to enjoy with my wife back in the States. This was a beautiful place, set in the vineyards, surrounded by flowers, with the majestic mountains off in the distance. The last leg was very nice back roads returning to Sofia. Adrian stopped a number of times to point out very interesting aspects from the Soviet era, including an enormous metals factory (miles long), and a portion of the road we were on that, was actually part of an old military runway. The tour ended nearly 10 hours after it began, back at my hotel. I left the bike and front and Adrian returned later to retrieve it. This was a very professional operation and Adrian could not have been a better guide and riding partner. What an amazing day we had! I can not wait to return to beautiful Sofia and it's amazing people and take another tour with this tremendous outfit! Adrian, as promised, provided a really cool video of our day from his 360 degree HD camera so I may revisit the wonderful experience. Well done!
