The nature reserve is principally composed of semi-mobile dunes and contains a wealth of coastal wildflower and insect species. The Stevenston-Saltcoats promenade leads from the north end of the reserve into Saltcoats town centre.

Great beach and a nice walk in to the next town saltcoats, the views are amazing and it's a nice long beach with sandy hills for kids to run about and play
