Igatpuri railway station lies in Nashik District between Mumbai and Nashik Road on the Central Railway. Igatpuri is known for Vipassana International Academy, where ancient technique of meditation is taught called Vipassana. Trains on this route usually change locomotives on this stop and also change the guards and drivers. The place is one of the best places to visit in Maharashtra in monsoon. Vaitarna dam is a beautiful scenic place to visit in Igatpuri.
The views are beautiful especially when the water level rises during the monsoon rains. One can travel to the other side and soak in the lovely landscape.
The dam is also important as its one of the main sources of water supply for Mumbai city

This is a beautiful sight with water flowing down on the Vaitarna. Makes for a great trek although will be difficult if moving with family. The sights and sheer calmness which one feels here are an amazing experience

We caught up the highway and try to locate Camel view point on the NH towards Igatpuri. Camel view point is just on the highway, after crossing Igatpuri. This gives a super green view of the ghats. This spot on the NH towards Mumbai is just beautiful - before entering the Kasara Ghat roads. The Kasara ghat roads are so beautiful that you can keep driving for days.

This is a lovely unspoilt Waterfalls hat comes alive in the monsson season.
The approach and climb back can be quite difficult given the slippery mud and rocks. One needs to be cautious while going in. Not suitable for small kids.
Better to have a gps, else can be difficult to spot and reach.

- Great place to visit in the monsoon - Clouds everywhere....and it rains continuously and heavily...be prepared to get drenched...and enjoy the rain - Waterfalls can be seen everywhere...all along the valley - Great break...very relaxing and peaceful

This mountain range is beauty and raging beast at same time. Since road which passes through is quite curvy and tedious but scenic view it offers are pleasant surprise and worth time spent. This ghat is part of National Highway No.3 which goes to nasik so its quite busy with traffic all the time. Condition of road is good so it offers driving pleasure. If you maintain discipline while driving this ghat can work wonder.
