Bursledon Brickworks Industrial Museum

Bursledon Brickworks Industrial Museum is all set to become one of the key visitor attractions in the South. The only remaining steam driven brickworks in the country we show how brick making made the leap from small scale production to 20 million bricks a year. The fully restored and working machinery helped us to win the coveted Institute of Mechanical Engineering Heritage Award in 2011 and on Open Days we can show it all running as it was when it ceased producing bricks. On site you can see the patented method adopted to dry the bricks and the huge kiln block that was used to fire them ready for collection. The museum has other clay based collections on site and lots of opportunities on offer which makes a visit both enjoyable and educational.

Another visit to my local industrial museum which has reopened following COVID lockdown. Felt safe to visit, currently only open on Thursdays. Well worth a visit to get an overview of local brickmaking.

Manor Farm

Enjoy a great family day out at Manor Farm meeting friendly farm animals as you stroll around our traditional farmyard. There is always something new to see with baby animals and all our usual farmyard favourites. Take part in our daily farm activities, explore the farmhouse and farm buildings, take part in a Victorian school lesson, and join our farmyard walk (weekends and holidays only). Once you’ve met all our animals why not visit our play area with it’s play tractor, combine harvester and pedal tractor circuit? The Café, just outside the entrance to the farm, offers a selection of food and drink from teas and ice creams to hot food.

I joined Gala Bingo a month or so ago and have visited the Antelope Park Branch on many occasions. I visit with friends and family and recommend Gala Bingo to anyone (much better than Crown bingo!!). We use the electronic tablets which are easy to use and make bingo much more fun! Always welcomed by friendly faces with big smiles and great customer service - especially Luke who always goes above and beyond making sure all guests are catered and looked after well! The staff are always offering free games and gifts to all of their guests - last night every guest received a bottle of wine and yummy chocs!!! My favourite is the bar area with comfy booths, a delicious menu and a modern atmosphere! The only thing I recommend is not to charge for sauces when a main meal is ordered. A great venue to win cash and socialise with friends and family!!

River Hamble Country Park

A place to play, picnic, relax and explore. Have a ramble around our fantastic ancient woodland and enjoy all the seasonal changes from bluebells in spring to the fantastic autumn colours. Discover the abundant wildlife from curlews along the river and skylarks in the fields, plus an amazing array of wildflowers, insects and reptiles. At Barnfield, let the children loose in our play area, or play games in the wide open fields. The nearby seasonal kiosk has snacks, drinks and ice creams and you can also by crabbing nets to explore the wildlife on the nearby banks of the River Hamble. If you’re feeling particularly peckish: Why not visit the Café (nr Manor Farm) which has a tempting menu offering hot and cold drinks, cakes, freshly-made sandwiches and much more. Other facilities include: toilets (at Barnfield and nr Manor Farm), car parking (Pay & Display is in operation), BBQs for hire, educational activities and an annual events programme.

What can I say about this place; its idyllic & picturesque ;also it sits on the banks of the Hamble river...this place is crammed with different species of trees, deers, birds of prey and wild birds...its excellent not only for walks, but for avid photographers and people who fancy a spot of fishing on the nearby river; there is BBQ areas to use and somewhere to pitch a tent.....the park is a good fair size and it would be wise to spend a whole day there to explore; its ideal for all ages and certain areas are Disable friendly....go and spend the day there and take a lovely pack lunch or a BBQ and enjoy yourselves; this place is wonderful in all weathers because of its location, but of its natural beauty...I even had the pleasure of waving and smiling to the late Princess Diana;back in late 1983,as she opened the disabled section..its a magical place to forage during the autumn months for Sloes, and nuts etc...I love it!!!!
