Elbow Beach

Three hotels line this beach, making it popular with tourists; you might want to avoid this place if you're not into the Spring Break college kid party scene, which tends to crowd the beach during the Easter season.

We did not stay at the Elbow Beach Resort as we had cruised to Bermuda on the Celebrity Cruises ship, Summit. Booked a day pass through Resorts for a Day to the Elbow Beach Resorts beach. Beautiful beach and much less crowded than the popular and public Horseshoe Bay beach. Our pass included 2 lounge chairs, umbrella, small table and food & beverage service was available at our chairs. The loungers had very nice, towel-like covers that completely covered the chairs and they were changed whenever someone left and another guest was given that lounger. If you prefer not to eat at your lounge chairs just put on a cover-up and eat at the nice beachfront restaurant which is just a few steps away. We ate at the restaurant. It was good but expensive - as is everything in Bermuda. (Be warned - you do not get iced tea refills. If you want a refill it is charged like a new drink.) We took beach towels from the ship, but everything else you need for a great beach day is right there - food, restrooms, changing rooms, and showers. Highly recommend this beautiful beach. Note on the Resort for a Day package: We were disappointed in the transportation part of our Resort for a Day package. It is a 45 minute ride from Royal Naval Shipyard where our ship was docked to Elbow Beach (about the same distance as Horseshoe Bay is from the ship). The driver was very late arriving to pick us up from the ship and then after another delay he put us in a cab (which I guess he paid for - cab fare was about $45). He said he needed to wait for some other people. When time to depart Elbow Beach at 5:30 that afternoon our ride never showed up. After about an hour one of the Elbow Beach hotel managers had a bellman who was just getting off duty drive us back to the ship. This was a lengthy round trip (1 1/2 hr) for this gentleman as he lived right by the hotel. I assume hotel paid him. Never did know if it was resorts responsibility to provide the transportation we had paid for or Resorts for a Day. Nevertheless, the beach was wonderful. We learned while there that the main, original, very old - and beautiful - hotel building is not currently open. We assume it is being renovated. There are motel-like rooms on the beautiful grounds that were housing resort guests.

Multiple kudos for Kevin and his team! Our first experience with electric bikes was AMAZING !! We travelled from nearby Marley Beach to St David’s Lighthouse and the Navy Dockyard (separate days) on ONE charge, each approximately 30 miles! We recharged over lunch at Wahoo’s (St George’s) and the Frog and Onion (Dockyard) for our return trip. Riding miles on the Bermuda Railway path’s overlooking the Sound (only open to walkers and bikers) was an incredible experience. Just hit the power button, and zoooom, you’re in for a treat! One for the Memories !!
