St Botolph's Church

Reviewed By 968nicholash - London, United Kingdom

Built in the 11th century, this tiny church is a delight, set in the secluded Oxfordshire hamlet of Swyncombe. A feature is the beautifully carved wooden Rood Screen, though us much more recent dating from the early 20th century. The font has a beautifully carved wooden cover. There is a lovely pale blue wooden ceiling. Well worth venturing into the countryside to find this gem of mediaeval religious architecture.

Thames Path

On a few days break from the grind we took ourselves off to Henley-on-Thames, the Thames path is a wonderful way to explore the river and to watch the world go by. We took a picnic and found a lovely shaded spot in view of the river and the many boats that pass. You must walk up to one of the many locks to watch the boats passing through.
