We took a day trip to Kutna Hora from Prague and it was lovely to get out of the city for a day and enjoy the quiet and beauty of this village. It was easy to access by train and well worth the visit.

Josefov is a quarter in Prague , that is most known for the location of the former Jewish Ghetto. It is visited by many tourists from all over the world. Uniquely preserved, it is a site of the Old Jewish cemetery, the synagogues, the museum. Josefov is just a small part of Prague , but important part of its history. Prague jewish population prior to the Nazi occupation in 1939 was over fifty thousand Today only few thousands jews live in Prague. Thousands perished in the concentration camps. In the Pinkas Synagogue, names of thousands are handwritten on walls. Floor to ceiling, often families , with their date of birth and death. It truly is overwhelming and it took several years to finish. The display of the life of the children in Terezin concentration camp is heartbreaking. There are long lines to purchase tickets. They are many combinations available to cover the visit. A combination ticket may be best value, as you can return over a period of few days. It all depends , obviously, how much time you have. My husband and I were staying in the Four Seasons Hotel, for part of our trip, we had enough time to wander around and return to places we have been before. In contrast to the rich jewish history, in other part of Josefov is the famous Parizska ( Paris ) street with the most beautiful buildings and luxury shopping. After the communist regime fell this street took on a major transformation. Buildings were restored, renovated and expensive designer stores appeared .Quite a few excellent restaurants opened up too. Because of Josefov close proximity to Staromestske namesti, most tourist will find their way there.
