Delightful evening out
Reviewed By renedayWe celebrated a birthday with dinner at this fabulous venue. What a great evening it was. We had pre dinner drinks at the bar and then went through to the restaurant for the most amazing dinner. Starters were delicious. The octopus was perfectly cooked and tender. Our main meals were beautifully presented and tasty. The staff were very friendly and even remembered it was my birthday with a little treat at the end. Thoroughly recommend this hidden gem!

The agriturismo MONTAGNA VERDE is located in Apella di Licciana Nardi (province of Massa), Lunigiana region, in the north of Tuscany, surrounded by the centuries-old chestnut trees of the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park. The rooms are in an historic watchtower built in 1000 and renovated in 1995 by Mario Maffei. The attentive, painstaking renovation project led to the creation of colourful rooms (bedrooms, apartments, tasting room, honey workshop, restaurant) that combine the relaxed and characteristic atmosphere of historic buildings with the functionality and comfort of modern accommodation, to ensure guests experience all-round well-being.The tasting room and restaurant, with its zero-km menu (local product and slow food menu), are the ideal place to enjoy delicious, traditional Lunigiana cuisine . In the summer, guests can enjoy the pool-terrace (25 x 5 meters) with a view of the Apuan Alps, completely surrounded by the green landscape of the surrounding mountains. In autumn, the myriad of colours creates an impressive and memorable backdrop, and visitors can witness the metato in operation (every October this special wood oven is lit for the traditional drying of chestnuts), and breathes in the aroma of roasted chestnuts spreading through the village. The biopark and educational farm are perfect for those interested in finding out about the biodiversity of the area and to getting to know the farm’s animals, such as donkeys, sheep and cows, as well as the organic gardens where herbs for medicinal and culinary purposes are produced.

Reviewed By Hynek PGreat accommodation in small historical village. Excellent local food in restaurant. Close to Tuscan-Emilian National Apennine Park which is suitable for hiking. Access roads are narrow and twisty but it is part of experience to visit such lovely tranquil place.

Are you looking for an off beaten path Italian vacation, a mix of Italian rural life, contact with nature, relax and tranquillity? Palazzo del Duca offers all of that in the magic atmosphere of a 17th century old palazzo situated in the heart of a lovely tiny medieval village surrounded by the natural beauty of the Tuscan-emilian Appennines National Park. A paradise for lovers of all activities in close contact with nature: trekking, hiking, fishing, horse riding, canoeing etc. Etc. At very close distance there are the 100 Lakes Park and Alpi Apuane Park. We are in Tuscany, but very close to other 2 regions, Liguria and Emilia Romagna. The area is gem-set between mountains and sea. In 30 minutes driving you can go skiing in the winter or you can go visiting one of the most beutiful coasts of Italy, 5 Terre (Unesco Site), Portovenere and Gulf of Poets

Reviewed By DougMInsightsI cannot speak highly enough of Palazzo del Duca! We first visited the Palazzo in 2016 with a large group, and returned recently with our immediate family for another week. Both visits were completely enjoyable. Mirella (the GM) is a wonderful and gracious host; the rooms are spacious and relaxing; the building is well updated to preserve its history and provide modern conveniences; the grounds and pool are beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The place is an oasis in the Italian mountains with ready access to hiking, small Italian town ambiance, great local food, fine Italian wine (especially that from Mirella's husband Francesco), and day trips to Cinque Terra, northern Tuscany, Milan, Florence, and many other local towns. We were so happy to show our daughters the place we enjoyed so much on our first visit. 5 stars all around!! Doug M

Piscina sempre aperta e disponibile per il tipico bagno di fine giornata quelo piu rilassante in assoluto Colazione al bar sotto casa La prima volta che vedo dare i tappi per le orecchie se ne avesse bosogno (cosa che fanno solo in grandi hotel) Davvero tutto perfetto Spero di tornare presto

SECONDO BELLISSIMO SOGGIORNO!
Reviewed By ILLA-POPIA distanza di un anno sono tornata con mio marito in questo fantastico agriturismo per qualche giorno. Siamo stati ovviamente molto bene… Noi in particolare l’abbiamo impiegato come “base” per girare in moto nei dintorni, e così abbiamo potuto visitare alcuni caratteristici paesi della Lunigiana, spingendoci sino al passo della Cisa! Apella si trova a circa 700 metri di altitudine per cui consiglio di mettere in valigia un qualcosa di caldo per la sera: anche se di giorno le temperature fossero estive, la sera non è affatto improbabile che l’escursione termica sia notevole (anche 10 gradi in meno, e non solo in caso di pioggia). Questa volta ci è stata assegnata “la vecchia cucina”, interessante camera in Cà della Sciora del Borgo Antico, uno dei fabbricati in pietra che compongono l’albergo diffuso. Ci è piaciuta molto anche per la presenza di un terzo letto su cui appoggiare i bagagli; di fatto è una doppia ad uso solo eventuale di tripla, in quanto lo spazio tra i letti è molto ridotto e personalmente ho dato alcune ginocchiate (ma ammetto di essere maldestra…). Se siete in tre consiglio di chiedere espressamente una tripla, sicuramente più ampia. Pulizia per noi più che sufficiente e adeguata al tipo di ospitalità, che posso definire "rustica". Il bagno va bene, è abbastanza ampio, dotato di asciugacapelli e sufficienti appendini (cosa non sempre scontata!); non c’è finestra ma l’aspiratore funziona. Ricordo sempre di portarvi un asciugamano per il bidet perché non è previsto. In camera c’è un fondamentale frigo nemmeno troppo piccolo, utilissimo secondo noi! Zanzariere alle finestre; no aria condizionata ma in questa camera se ne può fare a meno. L’illuminazione, mi è parso, è un po’ carente, più per la scarsa potenza e intensità delle lampadine (quantomeno quelle che c’erano nel 2019) che per il numero di punti luce. Sulla colazione, così come ho fatto nella mia prima recensione, lascio parlare le foto… ECCEZIONALE! BUONISSIMA E ABBONDANTISSIMA, OGNI BEN DI DIO SALATO E DOLCE per cui, molto probabilmente, dobbiamo ringraziare la numerosissima clientela nordeuropea che ogni anno viene in Toscana ed in particolare all’Agriturismo Borgo Antico… In strutture di questo tipo non riesco proprio a capire (e compatisco) chi beve solo un caffè e se ne va! Consiglio caldamente la mezza pensione… (vedere la mia recensione sul profilo del ristorante Montagna Verde). Per raggiungere il ristorante si può, in alternativa ai mezzi a motore, godersi il paesaggio facendo una passeggiata andata e ritorno, o sulla strada asfaltata o attraverso un agevole sentiero che parte da dietro la Torre a sinistra, ma in tal caso munitevi di torcia perché non c’è illuminazione pubblica nemmeno sulla strada. Si astenga dal soggiornare al Borgo Antico chi ha paura perfino delle lucciole, del cra-cra delle raganelle o del canto di cicale e grilli, o di qualche piccolo e innocuo insetto che si può vedere intorno… questo paradiso è per amanti della natura più vera! E non spaventatevi se percorrendo la strada carrabile vi trovaste di fronte mucche, tori o cavalli, sono abituati ai turisti e non fanno male a nessuno (ma si spera sempre di non trovare i cinghiali con i piccoli!). Prima della Torre si trova il bellissimo Bio Parco con annessi recinti dove si trovano gli animali d’allevamento e da cortile dell’Azienza Agricola Biologica; chi non ha mai visto per esempio il frutto della mela cotogna, o chi vuole conoscere varietà di alberi da frutto locali o in via d’estinzione ci faccia un giro! Infine, la piscina: questa volta non siamo riusciti a sfruttarla, faceva abbastanza fresco nelle ore del tardo pomeriggio in cui eravamo nel borgo (e in più l’acqua era fredda, è perfettamente pulita ma la sorgente da cui arrivava il ricambio col tubo da irrigazione è evidentemente gelida!). UNA VACANZA QUI È DA FARE ALMENO UNA VOLTA NELLA VITA! Dopodiché ad Apella lascerete un pezzetto di cuore e vorrete ritornare…
