This place is a joke

Reviewed By thamaraross

I didn't even make it to the hostel. I was trying to book a 5 night stay for two people. First time I called, they didn't even give me prices/availability and told me to ask for a quote over email. I did and nobody replied. I called again and was told it takes up to 4 hours to get a response. I waited but still didn't hear from them. Finally got an answer over their facebook fanpage; rude, cold straight-to-the-point answer. I was going to ignore all of this anyway and book because the price for a dorm was the cheaper I found (which still 240 pesos per person is not so cheap for a dorm), but when I called to confirm the requirements for booking, they treated me like they were doing me a favor, not even a "hello" and on top of everything, they were pushing me to book the private room and I was asked to pay for the FULL amount before arrival, with NO CANCELATION refund. I understand to be asked for 50%, but paying for the whole thing is just crazy, when there's not even enough pictures of the private rooms on their website or social media. This place is a complete JOKE. Hostals are supposed to have a cozy warmth atmosphere, this people have no idea what a Hostal actually is.

This is a simple hotel with about 8 rooms. The the doubles room was fairly spacious and clean. It is very plain with no decoration at all. There was only a single plug in the room and there was not enough hot water for two people to shower in a room. The staff was friendly and gracious though and the price was fair. There is limited parking so you may have to park on the street. The location was good with a 4 minute drive to centro. We even thought about leaving the car and waking there but decided to drive.

Hay garrapatas en las camas y lo ven normal

Reviewed By KarlaDLA

Ikali Hostel

Loud, Unsafe, Weird, Expensive - Just avoid.

Reviewed By jadk001

I stayed here two nights and honestly can not figure out how any of these nice reviews were written. This was hands down the worst hostel I stayed at in a year in Latin America - sure the beds are comfortable with power sockets but don't expect to spell. First night there was a party right outside the dorm with loud music, yelling etc until 5am and karaoke. I kid you not - hostel staff were pretty much not existent for my entire stay except I'm pretty sure they were the ones drinking that night. No one by the door so even though there is security if the door doesn't close (or the password doesn't change) anyone can come and go - and then on the second night someone was going through all the things in the dorm brazenly whole people slept. A Japanese guy had something stolen. The person just would walk through the dorms and I actually woke up to him looking in through my curtains with his hands inside my bed!!!!! He then came back 2 different times being aided and watching me through the curtains. He was not a guest .... but no one was around to stop him. Also this night radio played all night outside at high blast so might as well have been in room (thin walls) but I wasn't sleeping anyway after all this. Very unsafe hostel - I honestly wouldn't even call it a hostel as they seem to get be running a space for themselves and leave whenever. Weird and horrible - you won't sleep here, so just stay somewhere else. Oh and the showers were dirty, never had toilet paper and were *cold* at all times. But really - thats the least of your worries.

Very nice :)

This was a perfect stay. The hostal was nice and clean the service very friendly and accommodating. Even beyond the service expected. We were so lucky (by chance) to stay over/during the celebration of "tres Reys" and were invited to join, totally cool. I will give this place my warmest recommendations. The nearby natural resort, the original goal of our trip was also nice :) BR Benny

Horrible place Awful service, dirty sheets, dirty bathrooms, no water pressure on showers, no staff in on weekends and night time, bunk beds without stairs, broken lockers. Worst place ever! We have arrived on a Saturday, were shown our room by a lady, then we saw the dirty sheets, missing pillows, missing towels...

The worst Hostal in Mexico?

Reviewed By Russianrobert

I've stayed in many hostels in Mexico (and around the world) and this is one of the worst. Completely lacks any frills, no lounge/common area for dining or socialising. Not even any decoration or style, completely bland. Like staying in an institution. Depressing! The day I was there the office was locked and no one from the management was around all day. 240 pesos a night, no breakfast isn't exactly cheap either. Unless you're desperate-avoid!
