Bhaktivedanta Manor

In the Hertfordshire countryside just north of London, Bhaktivedanta Manor, complete with its farmlands, beautiful gardens and temple is a real sanctuary for the soul. Open all year round to visitors and students of ancient wisdom, the temple offers a great experience with tours of the shrine, gardens and compassionate farm. See the rooms of the famous Hare Krishna guru Srila Prabhupada, to whom George Harrison gifted this iconic mock Tudor mansion. Visitors may participate in inspirational talks, yoga classes, mantra meditation, vegetarian cooking classes and various retreats.

I try to visit Bhaktivedanta Manor as often as I can through out the year and especially during the Janmastahmi Festival (Krishna's Birthday) which usually falls sometime in August. This is a very tranquil place to visit, with lovely gardens, the pond, the woodland walk, the cow pen where you can purchase greens to feed the cows, and of course the magnificent temple. Such tranquil surroundings and a lovely place to just relax or start your spiritual journey. There are prayer times throughout the day so check their website for details of these if you would like to attend. There is a lovely cafe on site for refreshments, and prashad is always served too. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area, you will have a wonderful uplifting experience.

Topgolf Watford

No golfing ability? No problem! Topgolf is a game that anyone can play (and win). Score points by hitting micro-chipped golf balls at giant dartboard-like targets on an outfield. The closer you get your ball to the centre or ‘bullseye’ and the further the distance, the more points earned. The fun and games don’t stop there; you can even indulge in delicious food and drinks brought to you while you play. What could be better?

Opens at 9:00 am and we got there just before 11. Booked our spot and waited. Depending on the numbers there might be quite a long wait. There is plenty of place to sit with a bar area where you order yourself or another area which has table service. Menu has a good selection with gluten free being catered for. We ordered the classic burger, sunrise burger and Cajun chicken burger all served with lovely crunchy fries. We did wait a while but that was to be expected based on how full the place was. But was so worth the wait as the burgers were most delicious. There are a number of tv screens around the place showing various sports. There is also an adventure golf area as well as some arcade games. Toilets were clean. There is parking on site as well as some overflow parking a bit further up the hill. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Definitely a place for a family outing or even to entertain a group of kids. We will definitely be back. We could certainly do with one of these places in Cardiff!

We have been to many Laser Parties at Gambados. My 7 year old had his own party here in May. The whole experience was great, from the booking to the day of the party. The party booking team are very friendly and helpful and always follow up on information that you request. The party itself was brilliant, so much fun. We had Jack as our party host I would highly recommend asking for him. He easily managed 20, excited, Wild, energetic 7 year olds. I’m sure he is magic! Feeding time half way through the party resembles a chimps tea party but there are lots of members of staff that aren’t fazed at all. They are super efficient at handing out food, bringing the cake, getting the kids to sing happy birthday and then tidying away, All you need to remember are the cake, candles, party bags and a large bag to carry the birthday presents home. I would definitely recommend ordering the tea and coffee jugs and cakes or bites for the parents. It’s arranged on the table and is nice for people to help themselves. We would definitely use Gambados again for future parties and ask for Jack!
