Top 7 Things to do Good for Big Groups in Kildare, Province of Leinster

April 30, 2022 Mollie Coke

Kildare (Irish: Cill Dara, meaning "church of the oak") is a town in County Kildare, Ireland. Its population of 8,412 (2011 Census) makes it the eighth largest town in County Kildare and the 55th largest in the state, with a growth rate of 8% since the 2006 census. Although Kildare gives its name to the county, Naas is the county town. The town lies on the R445, some 50 km (31 mi) west of Dublin – near enough for it to have become, despite being a regional centre in its own right, a commuter town for the capital.

We spent over two hours here earlier today. We opted for the family package with some add ons and went for the Tag Archery, Assault Course and Splat Master. The whole family had a fantastic day. We were reasonably prepared for all weathers and it was a "bit damp" to put it mildly but the adrenalin and non stop encouragement from the head marshal meant that we hardly noticed! Being based in Co. Kildare ourselves we are delighted that we found this adventure centre less than an hour's drive away and we will definitely be back (hopefully with better weather!) to try some of the other activities. Well done guys.

A very interesting place, educational as well as a place to enjoy peaceful family time. 2 for 1 ticket price through the Irish Heritage leaflet made the cost exceptional and well worth the visit. The horses are so well looked after, the information is interesting and the grounds are immaculately kept. The Japanese garden is an added bonus, peace and tranquility await, a visual piece of art in every corner, vibrant colours abundant in every space, purity at its best! The cafe is lovely, serving delicious food, especially the cake/dessert selection. Worth a visit if in Co Kildare.

We have received many enquiries regarding reopening and regret to have to advise that we will not be reopening in 2020 and for as long as the C-19 social safe distancing requirements continue. As you are aware our facility is relatively expansive however it is impossible to implement the current social distancing recommendations in the intimacy of our playgrounds, petting/hot house, camp site and coffee shop. We wish you all safe passage through COVID-19 and hope to welcome you back at some point in 2021. Best Wishes Keep Safe Gráinne & Brendan

On Sunday 22 December, we visited Wallaby Woods with our two young sons aged 3 and 10 to see Santa. The kids loved it. Santa and Mrs. Claus were brilliant with the kids, and we sang Jingle Bells. They received a large selection box each. All the staff were dressed as elves and were a great help to Santa and his wife. Lots to do and see in Wallaby Woods. We will be back in the Summer for a picnic. Food and coffees were lovely. Staff very friendly and efficient. Kids loved the place.

I don't go to Base with children or for children. I selfishly but decidedly go for my own mental health - my well-being. I get away from my place of work nearby. I'm treated like a king by the staff, enjoy the soundtrack do some work on my laptop .. read the daily paper. Who wouldn't???
