Rincon del sabor

When in Tecozautla, this is where I eat most often. For example, on my last trip to Tecozautla, I ate there every day, for breakfast and/or dinner. Of course, sunday the restaurant was closed so I didn’t eat there.
The restaurant is in a small mall in front of the Tecozautla tower.. The menu is at the door to the mall.
The restaurant is very clean, well decorated and the atmosphere is extremely pleasant. The fact that I eat there often, of course, helps.
When I was in Uruapan, 2 week ago, I had my first shrimp cocktail, Mexican style. I fell in love. Since, I have shrimp cocktail at least once in every restaurant I visit.
Rincon del Sabor was no exception. The cocktail was delicious. After my first time, when I had a medium size cocktail, I always choose a small size. That way I can finish it and use my favourite phrase, “It wasn’t good” after wiping my plate (or, in this case glass) clean. It makes the waiters laugh.
At the Rincon del Sabor, I have had, shrimps a la diavola (ooooh spicy), shrimps empanizada (breaded), veal cordon bleu, veal empanizada, hamburguesa (hamburger) made of arrachera meat and many others. Mirta usually eats vegetables and is always pleased.
Aurera, owner and chef is a pleasant woman and highly qualified chef. Her husband, Ricardo, and her son, Frank, provide efficient service. There is also a very thin young girl whom I call gorda (fat). It makes everyone laugh.
This is a restaurant I recommend highly.

As you walk in, either the chef or her husband will greet you. Both are very nice.
The dining room is very big with a lot of space between tables for extra privacy.
The menu covers everything Mexican from arrachera to quesadillas. They even offer venado (deer). This I will
have next time.
There are no wines for the time being but beer and all sorts of beverages are available.
The service is not too fast because everything is prepared fresh. Since this restaurant is only opened during the weekend,
this is not a problem. Take your time and enjoy.
The kitchen is opened and very clean, respecting the values of the owners. The chef is a professor end the husband (mesero or waiter) is an engineer. This is more than a business for them. It is a passion.
I had the arrachera and was surprised when asked how I wanted it cooked. I got it as I asked for and it was delicious. I found out that when cooked correctly this cut of beef is really very good and tender. The cut is Hanger steak. It used to be known as "butcher's steak", because butchers would often keep it for themselves rather than offer it for sale.
It is especially tender if marinated and served medium rare.
The bathrooms are also very clean.
Interestingly, the bill is not over priced.
Try this restaurant, you won’t be sorry.

Reception is cordial. Lily’s son, Mario, will greet you and help get you seated. People are nice and happy to see you even though this restaurant is usually full.
This is a well kept restaurant. Everything is clean. It is as though someone constantly passes by the sink (for washing hands) to clean it.
There are 2 dining areas: A front (facing the street) and a back (quieter). Both are clean and comfortable. In another room, there are 2 games you can play. Baby foot and pool.
The menu has all sorts of goodies on it. Here, you get the best hamburger in Mexico. Which is what I had. Many times.
One time, Mirta had Huarache. She asked for (and received) half mushrooms and half Tinga de pollo. This restaurant aims to please.
Other goodies are: Birria, a beef dish cooked for hours and tender like you wouldn’t believe, chicken wings and, of course, my favourite, shrimp cocktail. But there are dishes to suit anyone’s tastes.
Drinks come in all shapes and sizes. Juices, Micheladas (7 different kind and 3 sizes) drinks such as Cuba libre, Margaritas and Pina Coladas. There are also liquids (shakes) and beer and, of course, soft drinks.
The service is fast and efficient and, should I repeat it, the food is delicious.
This restaurant is situated in Gandho, at the corner of Estatal 101 that goes to El Geiser, a most famous balneario in Tecozautla and the “San Jose Atlan – Las Rosas” road.

Las Adjuntas is the restaurant beside the embarcadero (marina) to visit the presa Zimapan.
The restaurant is about ½ hour from Tecozautla. I stongly recommend taking a taxi to get there and back. Cost: 90.00 to go and 90.00 pesos to get back.
The restaurant is directly in front of the presa (reservoir) so the view is great. And you can sit on the terrasse for a better view.
When there, ask for the mojarra (tilapia). They are fished directly there so are extremely fresh.
I personnaly had a shrimp cocktail which was very good.
Everything is prepared as you wait.
They have beer and alcool and the reception is very friendly.
Ask for Don Cuko. If you are lucky, he will give you the tour himself.
