I loved seeing the cliffs off Cavendish Beach. You can go in through the national park entrance or straight to the beach. We took some of the best pictures all along this coast line and there are spots to stop and explore down onto the shore below. There are also bike trails that run through the national park so you could park and do the beach and the trails from the same spot.

Green Gables Golf Club

A scenic, ocean-side golf course, Green Gables measures 7,000 yards from the back tees and has everything you would expect of one of the Island's top-rated links. Classic rolling greens guarded by deep bunkers, six water holes, an ever changing breeze and the dunes of PEI's famous north shore serving as a backdrop. This beautiful course was designed and built in 1939 by one of the world's most renowned architects, the late Stanley Thompson. Now, nearly seventy years later, another legend among architects has renewed the spirit of Green Gables. Thomas McBroom, whose designs have achieved innumerable awards and accolades, has blended his own unique perspective with Thompson's original concept to ensure Green Gables meets the highest standards of golfing expectations. "Two Master Minds, One Master Piece."

To provide some perspective, I am a 13 handicap. I live in a golf community, play 50+ rounds per year and I have been to and played many of the top courses in the world. For those planning a "buddies trip" in PEI, I would play my first round at Green Gables. It is in excellent shape, is a memorable and scenic course, and is very fair. The front nine allows you some time to work off your jet lag. The fairways are lined with beautiful trees that can punish errant drives but the fairways are wide on the "open side" so you can play away from trouble until you find your groove. The back nine is spectacular with some great holes and incredible scenery. This course is reminiscent of the natural beauty one might find in a country like Scotland, not the "manufactured" beauty you might find in many courses in North America. You need to appreciate the uniqueness of seeing about 70 Canada geese.and their babies around the water and not get bent out of shape with the goose droppings on #16 (which is a strong par three). Marvel at the scenery and hope your tee shot is on the right level of the green, I easily walked all 18 (I'm 62 years old) and my wife walked the front and rode the back. She plays more than I do and loved the course. This is a special course. The gentleman who greeted us in the parking lot and set up our clubs and returned them to the car after was extremely professional and friendly (wouldn't accept my gratuity). Memorable course. Enjoyable day. Played in 3 1/2 hours.
