We did a 12 days EBC Trek in October with Skyhook and their fantastic team from Freedom Adventures (Phura Gelzen Sherpa, Phura 2, Anil Raii, Santosh Sewa and all porters). The trek was simply unforgettable. We were very well looked after from the moment we have landed in Kathmandu. The accommodation in the city and in the mountains were great, places we have eaten offered variety of tasty meals, we had access to hot showers and wi-fi wherever that was possible. Trekking was never boring as Phura and his Team entertained group with songs and dances ???? and they were supporting us during those difficult times making sure we are drinking water and taking breaks. We truly had an amazing time from start to finish and will highly recommend Skyhook and Freedom Adventures to anyone who is looking to do EBC or similar trip. Huge THANK YOU to all for looking after us and for those beautiful memories you give us!

Many of the old logging works in Hovin have now been restored, and many more of these old logging sites can be seen if you walk along the path beside the Rauavassdrag watercourse down to Lake Tinnsjo. You will see the charming little Maele bridge at the outlet of Lake Sandvatn. It is 100 years' old and is a work of art in itself.

Gea Norvegica Geopark Siljan

Forested ridges and bare rock surfaces at Siljan Siljan is dominated by forested areas with knobby hills around a central valley, the Siljan valley. The valley was carved by glaciers and the glacial deposits have provided good agricultural areas. On a tour trough the Siljan region one can see many traces of the last Ice Age, for example, polished grooves, glacial erratic’s of various sizes, glacial flutings and potholes. The two rock types, syenite and larvikite, dominate the exposures in Siljan. These rock types have consolidated from lavas far below the earth crust. 300 million years ago the area today is Siljan was full of volcanic activity and large fissures were formed. This period lasted for about 50 million years and resulted in what geologist today call the Oslo rift. Syenites and larvikites are both so-called magmatic deposits, but they consist of unlike minerals and have different characteristics. These characteristics determine he appearance of the landscape. When larvikite breaks down, it gives a significant amount of nutrients to soil. This is obvious from the vegetation. Auenkollen consists of larvikitee low an rounded knoll with fertile vegetation. Syenite, on the contrary, erodes quite slowly, and therefor contributes little nutrient to the soil. Skriua in Siljan is a typical knoll consisting of syenite. It has bare, steep rock side and sparse vegetation such as fir, juniper and heather.
