OK but needs improving

Reviewed By Robert D

Hotel is in a great location and could be fantastic but is very tired. Our stay was OK, not so bad we had to complain but dont book expecting too much. We booked a better loch view room which was worth it. Nice size and well equiped although bits of wear that you would not expect in a well managed hotel. We had evening meal x2 in restuarant/conservatory which was a nice light space but service was indiferrent. As to meal quality you would get better at Weatherspoons. We were not expecting fine dining but plenty of pubs deliver a better menu better cooked and better served. I'm sympathetic to hospitality sector that is recovering post covid but this was a disappointment. Just a little improvement would really lift the experience

Awful!

Reviewed By X5435OCsharont

My partner and I went for a pre-booked meal for my birthday last night, we had been looking forward to it all day, both discussing what we were going to have. You can only imagine our disappointment when we arrived at the restaurant bar where 3 females (2 young girls, 1 older woman) were clearly so busy that it was an inconvenience to bother with us so we were ignored until one of the young girls realised we weren't going to go away, though I wish we had! When we were eventually shown to our table the first words spoken to us before we even sat down were that they needed the table back at 8pm, our booking was at 6.15 and a "hello" would've been nice. I decided to have the '10 oz' med/rare ribeye steak and my partner ordered a pork special from the board. Our meals arrived around 10 minutes later ? and what I got was a minute steak so thin even Gordon Ramsay couldn't cook med/rare and my partner's pork with cider 'jus' was like an old shoe with barely any sauce. Nobody came near us to ask how our meals were nor were we asked when our plates were cleared though asking for the bill at that point is a good indication. We didn't receive the bill at the table so we had to go to the bar to ask for it. When asked if everything was ok I voiced my complaints to which I got the answer 'oh! So much for needing the table back at 8pm, we arrived at 6.15 and were out by 7pm! An absolute waste of over £60, I'd rather have went for a sandwich and given the money to charity! We definitely won't be back!

Low point.

Reviewed By shanem175

Low point of recent great cycling trip to Scotland. Unfriendly, dining room dingy and windowless, penny pinching, food greasy and tasteless. Rooms past their best and in need of renovation. All could be forgiven but they gave the impression that it was a huge favour to be allowed to stay. One to avoid!
