The award-winning Bridge Inn, once a modest mail coach’s halt, is now a fine, well-situated, comfortable country inn offering hospitality to all travelers and visitors being close to Wastwater (Britain’s favourite view) and Scafell. Well behaved dogs are also welcome. The Western Lakes and Fells are spectacular and here in this quiet valley there is still the peace and tranquility that should be Lakeland. There are still more sheep than people!!! Excellent "REAL" food, "REAL" Ales, Log Fires and a "reet good welcome." Standards of accommodation today's travelers expect. "Home from home for the tired business person and the weary fell walker."

We stayed in our campervan in a large wooded car park opposite which was perfect! I will be back very soon! Best pub I have found in the lakes

The Old School bed and breakfast and Betty's Cottage is surrounded by open farmland with stunning views to the Wasdale and Muncaster fells. An Adults Only b and b offering two beautiful en-suite bedrooms and a self contained one bedrooms annexe, ideal for that perfect getaway and for walking the fells. A small dog is welcome in Betty's cottage.

Reviewed By spencerw986We had contact with Lesley before arrival. She was very helpful and friendly. On arrival we were welcomed with a lovely smile and attitude. She couldn't be more hospitable. The room was amazing and above and beyond what we expected. The location is stunning. Very quiet and relaxing. The property is beautiful. The food breakfast was so tasty and what a choice. We will be returning to see more of this beautiful area. We can't recommend this B&B. Lesley and John are the perfect hosts.

If you suffer from an allergy, avoid like the plague

Booked dinner( for my wedding anniversary) weeks ago, advising that my daughter has a sesame allergy, I reconfirmed by email yesterday. We arrived and were told to get drinks before we sat down ( which we did). We told the waitress about the allergy and she said she would check with the kitchen. So, for a vegetarian, options from a limited menu went down to one ( as the breaded brie might contain sesame, even though it did not say it did no the packet) for starter and 2 main curse. we all ordered fish - my daughter asked for vegetables not chips-apparently, this request was just too much for the waitress who said the vegetables would not be an option as they are cooked with mixed spice ( which does not contain sesame). Apparently, salad with addressing is out of the question too. Indeed, my daughter apparently frightened the waitress We left ( refusing to may for the drinks we had ordered to go with the meal) The levels of ignorance and lack of professionalism shown by the staff were staggering. This is 2021 FFS-. my daughter was humiliated by the abject laziness and lack of empathy by the staff. A sheer and utter farce. I was almost tempted to try to find the hidden camera and await a TV comedian popping out - perhaps Basil Fawlty, Avoid this place like the plague - it is a disgrace. There are far better places to get a meal in the area - The Bower House were great, The Spa in the petrol station would be better

Great restaurant and outside tables. Service was really good. Food was gorgeous and menu very varied. Excellent breakfast, again a wide variety to choose from.
