Jersey Lavender Farm

In 2018 we are open from 1st May to 30th September, 10am to 5pm, Tuesdays to Sundays - we are closed on Mondays for maintenance, even if the Monday is a bank holiday. From early June to mid August we have our harvesting season when we look the best with the lavender in bloom, and we gather the harvest in. During this time we STRONGLY encourage you to attend one of the talks in the distillery at either 11:30am or 3:00pm. They are fun, informative and well worth it. Outside the harvesting season, the distillery isn't working but there is a 5 min video presentation that explains the processes on the farm through the year, and plenty to read and our different lavender oils to smell (and the entrance charge is lower). There is a "Discovery Trail" for kids and adults alike, chickens to feed and we also have our Sprigs Cafe and Shop. Plenty of homemade food in the first and a good range of gifts and, of course, the lavender products made on the farm.

We turned up just in time for the talk (on the day we went there were only two that day). The history and description of the process was fascinating, it was interesting to hear about the different types of lavender and oils and what they may be used for. You can wander through the lavender fields afterwards. It was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours and great that we could take our dog with us.

Judith Queree's Garden

Reviewed By Kath_Hirani

I visited Judith's garden with my sisters and mum yesterday and it was fabulous. I don't know how anyone could be disparaging about it. The house and garden is located in a picturesque and secluded spot, and the story of how it came about and evolved is endearing. Judith is very welcoming and friendly, her knowledge and is amazing, and she and her husband Nigel are very much a team. The chocolate box house has been lovingly preserved and is an integral part of the garden, sitting amidst a blanket of familiar and also unusual plants and flowers. The garden flows from a meadow to a little more structured garden around the house and out to a wet unruly area, all of which has it's own story. I loved the art work dotted around and the little surprises around each corner. There are chickens and geese, and everything is cultivated with the birds and the bees in mind. I will definitely go back myself again, and will take our visitors there.

Following an informative tour around the premises we sat in a hall and, between short films about the working of the vineyard and orchards, tasted three types of wine and liqueur with chocolate. absolutely scrummy. the staff were incredibly friendly and very patient with some of a large group who were rude - talking over the film and snapping at the staff when offered tastings. we had a pleasant walk around the vines etc and had a lovely tapas like lunch in the restaurant. overall, a fantastic day out
